Hi All,
I have been on the lookout for the 2020 thread but figured that I'll have to create one. I am sorry if there is one that I am not aware of.
I am a 2020 hopeful that is looking to make a career switch. I was at one of the information sessions where I gained further insights on the application process and the program. I took the GRE yesterday and was around the 50th percentile for both Q&V.
One of the changes to this years' requirements is that you don't need the GRE if you already have a masters degree or would complete one before the start of the 2020 session. I haven't taken the major prerequisites, but I will take and complete them in the summer of 2020.
I will start talking to my recommenders from next week, I have a tentative list that I composed with a view of having them tell different stories about my candidacy.
May I crave the indulgence of both current and past GEPNs and the benevolence of prospective class of 2020 to make this thread the best one yet. Your views and insights are welcome and appreciated!

I feel like you guys are so qualified. I don't mean to sound like I am not, my experiences and education is just different. I was unable to attend the information sessions and really have only gotten information from Jana, the website and this board. I will try to keep everyone updated on information I receive. So far, I have nothing new to add.
Fingers crossed. Good luck to everyone.
Welcome to the boards. What is your intended speciality? I also have only gotten my information from Ms. Buck and this board. I wasn't able to attend any of the on campus dates due to my schedule. You’re not the only one feeling nervous and anxious ?

when i asked i was told to wait to see if i got into the program first and then they would connect me to financial aid. They do, do a lot for their undergraduates. They set aside $120 million a year for their students in need. Theres a youtube channel for their financial aid office.

We are all in this together. If we all do get in, the Yale system is built around team work and team building. We”re not competing against each other like in other schools.
After hearing they pushed back the interview start date i got even more anxious and began rereading my essays and supplementals. Which is never a good idea once their submitted. The nervousness is part of the process and as you said its great to realize you're not alone in it.
Hey guys! I'm a travel RN trying to get into the women's health specialty. I'm actually from New Haven county. Yale is the only program that would make me want to leave cali and head back to CT. I've seen posts about the intensity of the GEPN's first year in particular. Has anyone heard much about the schedule of the specialty years? I'm trying to figure out if I could pull off working per diem during school

Agreed, across programs that's been the answer as well as from blogs/Youtube videos I've looked at. Btw, there are not a lot of people on platforms discussing what it's like to change careers and do a MSN program. It is either an accelerated BSN only or RN to MSN. Both are necessary to discuss of course, just wish there were more people talking about it in our specific situation. If I wasn't so tech challenged I'd do it myself ?. Anyhoo, they all said that some people were able to pull off part time or per diem. However, even then it took a lot of focus and not everyone was able to do that. I know for those who have bills(like myself) and kids that you still of course need income. Just saw a couple people say on videos that while some were able to do it, some tried and ended up either taking less credits and graduating late or just outright flunking out. I did ask Joseph during an info session the percentage of people who graduate on time and he said it was not common for people not to graduate on time from the program, so it can be done. Knowing myself I probably won't be able to at all (from people I know nursing is a whole different beast despite them being aware that I worked through all of college) unless circumstances line up well, I will have to find a source of funding for my bills. But other people should be discouraged if they feel they can handle it
Hello everyone! I just wanted everyone to know I received an e-mail Earlier today from Jana Buck:
“Thank you for your application into the GEPN program at Yale School of Nursing.
Due to the high volume of applications received after the deadline extension, interviews will be held in the week of January 6, 2020. Please note that interview invitations will go out no later than December 12, 2019. Should you have any additional questions about the process please don't hesitate to reach out.”
