Yale GEPN 2019

Published

Like midwifery students of past years, I as well have fallen in love with Yale's GEPN Midwifery program. This question is about the personal statement.

Ive been told that this is the most important part of the application, and that it should tell your story. This was said by Dr. Korevec during the informational, so I'm fairly confident in knowing that's what they want. It should explain why Yale and why nursing. However, whenever someone proofreads my personal statement, they know I'm applying to Yale and say it reads too much like a story and not like a college application essay. It's happened like 3 times and now I'm not sure what to do. Any advice?

thanks!

congratulations to everyone accepted! does anyone know which areas most nursing students tend to live in?

Hi Everyone!

I’m also on the waitlist for AGPC. I can’t imagine myself anywhere else but YSN so hopefully it all works out!

Congrats to those of you who got in! I hope we can be classmates one day.

Accepted for WHNP! Congrats to everyone who received an offer! now just gotta worry about financial aid

Congratulations everyone who was accepted! I was waitlisted for NM/WHNP. Anyone else waitlisted for this specialty?

Specializes in Midwife, OBGYN.

The people in my cohort live in many different places. We have a few students who live at home in CT and commute in and we have others that live an hour away with their partner and they chose a place halfway between where their partner goes to work and YSN. There are a few who live closer to the YSN campus and others that live in Westville which is west of Old Campus near the Yale Bowl and athletic fields.

But the majority of students tend to live around old campus. The popular places are Wooster Square, Downtown, East Rock, and Science Hill/Prospect Hill. There are a few people that live near the medical school downtown as well.

I am! I called Sandy to ask about the waitlist. She said 28 total students waitlisted for NM/WHNP, and last year they took 15 total students off the waitlist (this is from all specialties). She also let me know that the waitlist is not ranked, so if a spot does open they will reassess all applications again. Last day to get off the waitlist is June 1st, then it is closed. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the extra info! Good luck and fingers crossed it all works out

anyone start a facebook group yet? Would love to connect with other admitted students

i just started a facebook group! it’s “Yale GEPN 2019” ? let me know if you have trouble finding it.

Congrats to everyone! I’m so beyond thrilled and grateful to have received good news this week! I really appreciate everyone sharing their insights and couragement throughout this process.

I just received an email from YSN Financial Aid- no scholarship/gift for me. It also looks like their tuition is climbing at a steady rate per. Does anyone know if there’s a way to appeal a financial aid decision? The price tag as it stands is simply not feasible for me. Of course I’m looking into other funding options like private’s scholarships (nothing that will amount to $60,000/year ?) and plan to apply to Nurse Corps, but I don’t think we’d be informed about an award prior to when I’d need to make a decision about enrolling, not to mention it’s pretty hard to get! I would love to hear your thoughts/gameplan/etc.! Thanks!

ps- thanks for making an fb group!! I can’t find “Yale GEPN 2019”

Also, just to clarify, for those doing GEPN-FNP, is this the correct timeline for how the calendar would go? Start this fall and finish end of next summer, take NCLEX, start MSN study and do fall, spring, summer (off), fall, spring?
