Yale GEPN 2019

Published

Like midwifery students of past years, I as well have fallen in love with Yale's GEPN Midwifery program. This question is about the personal statement.

Ive been told that this is the most important part of the application, and that it should tell your story. This was said by Dr. Korevec during the informational, so I'm fairly confident in knowing that's what they want. It should explain why Yale and why nursing. However, whenever someone proofreads my personal statement, they know I'm applying to Yale and say it reads too much like a story and not like a college application essay. It's happened like 3 times and now I'm not sure what to do. Any advice?

thanks!

I also had a 50 min interview at the end of the day. She had a lot of questions for me. to be honest, I was so afraid of rambling that I think I psyched myself out toward the end of the interview.

I'm happy someone else had this experience. My interviewer was very clearly reading from a long list of questions she was required to ask me. I powered through the best I could, but it did begin to feel a little overwhelming! That being said, my interview was in the morning and stayed within the allotted 30 minute time limit.

My interview asked me about 3 questions upfront and then I had to answer them all together. I am a recruiter and interview people daily so I know I did awful by my standards.

I emailed today, the decisions will be mid-January.

Mine was 30 minutes and the audio was cut off after 30 mins! I thought it was intentional but now I'm not so sure :/

I guess now we wait til January! Thank you for emailing to ask about it!

Hi everyone! Does anyone know what the acceptance rate is for the program? Or how many of the interviewees are offered admission?

I think if you go back a few pages someone did the math out once upon a time and found that it was 70-80% acceptance after the interview.

If you look at 2018's thread someone has the breakdown of acceptance rates. All I have in my notes is they end up with around 108 students total across specialties with FNP having the largest group.

My audio cut off too!! I could hear her but she could not hear me. I think it went well but it is hard to gauge. Any other AG-AC applicants that can share their experience? My interviewer was very friendly and receptive but Im still nervous!

I interviewed for Pediatric specialty track and felt like my interview went surprisingly well. It was more like a conversation and mine lasted around 21 minutes :)

I'm glad that everyone's interviews have gone well!

Is anyone being interviewed next week? I'm curious how far into December interviews will be taking place.

My interview is on Monday for PMHNP!
