Yale GEPN 2017

Published

Hi everyone! Now that applications are starting to open for this cycle I thought I would start a thread. Is there anyone else that is starting the Yale GEPN application? If so, are you as overwhelmed as I am? Also, if there are any current GEPN students that see this thread, feel free to share any tips or your current experiences :) Thank you!

How are you all holding up? I'm trying to not go crazy, counting the days until our fates are revealed. What are you doing to distract yourselves?

Does anyone know when we will hear back?

Definitely going to try to stay busy with work until then. Had my phone interview this week and was very thankful for how personable they were. Regardless of my outcome, it was such a humbling experience to interview for Yale :)

They didn't tell us on interview day when we would hear back. I don't think anything can distract me until I know! Where else did everyone else apply?

They said we would hear back before March 1st. It looks like in previous years, people would usually hear back around Feb 26-28.

@Seattle3573 I applied to UPenn and Columbia. Just got an acceptance to Columbia a couple days ago, but Yale isn't number one!

Hi everyone!

It was so wonderful to meet everyone during the interviews. I was so impressed by the credentials that the other interviewers brought to the table, and how cathartic to speak with so many like-minded people.

I can't stop obsessing over this, so I figured I'd ask. Did anyone else's interview run really short? My interviewer wrapped things up in 15 minutes. Can't help but think that this is a bad, bad sign...

Good luck to all!

@bubbletea123 which specialty did you apply for?

Hello fellow GEPN hopefuls!!

Which specialties did you guys apply for?! How're you holding up? I'm nervous as heck waiting for this! This month is going to drag.

I've been a bit worried about this also. The "interview" portion of my interview only lasted about fifteen minutes, which I felt like was a bad sign, so I asked questions to keep the interviewer talking. I also applied for CNM/WHNP.

Who was your interviewer? Mine was Nancy Burton.

I wouldn't necessarily take a short interview as a bad sign; it's completely plausible that the committee really liked your application, and so the interviewer had fewer questions to ask you. It's also important to remember that there are a wide variety of people/professors with very different personality types conducting the interviews, and some are simply going to want to get the information they feel they need, and then leave it at that--no chatting. Don't despair yet! It's not over 'till it's over :) (I also applied/interviewed for CNM)

I had a phone interview on the 1st. My interviewer told me that she had 2 weeks to submit her interview notes/scores and then the admissions committee takes another two weeeks after that. I'm estimating we'll hear by 3/3, which is pretty consistent with last year. (It looks like they were notified on 2/29.) Good luck everyone! Waiting is sooooo hard.
