Yale GEPN 2017

Published

Hi everyone! Now that applications are starting to open for this cycle I thought I would start a thread. Is there anyone else that is starting the Yale GEPN application? If so, are you as overwhelmed as I am? Also, if there are any current GEPN students that see this thread, feel free to share any tips or your current experiences :) Thank you!

PS

I'm not sure if you're all interested but someone could make a closed Facebook group and post the name of it here. It might help connect some of you before interview days start. Other current students and I would also be able to answer questions a little easier there too (especially since we don't get notifications about posts here).

Anyone interested in splitting a room at the courtyard Marriott Feb 2nd and 3rd? I fly in late on the 2nd and leave the 4th.

How was everyone's interviews? I just completed mine for the PNP track.

Hi @striving4NP, I haven't interviewed yet but will be calling in next week for the same track. How did yours go, congrats on being done and best of luck to you!

Can anyone else who opted for the telephone interview offer some insight on their experience?

Did phone interview for CNM. Was way nervous (couldn't be helped) and although my interviewer complemented my diverse work experience, idk if she was all that enthusiastic about me. Very conversational and relaxed interview, she didn't ask questions i was expecting. good luck everyone!

I had a phone interview for PMHNP! My interviewer asked a lot of questions about my work experience (she was reading from my resume) and my understanding of the role of a nurse practitioner. I felt comfortable, but it was also clear that she was looking to see if I really understood what the role entailed. It lasted about 45 minutes. Not super confident, but it was good interview practice! Good luck! :)

I created a Closed Facebook Group for us here is the link. Otherwise search Facebook for "Yale GEPN 2017 Candidates" and it should show up and I'll add you promptly. I had my interview yesterday with a fine group of people, can't wait to meet more!

Went to the interview today for PMHNP! The sessions were amazing and the campus is great. Makes me even more excited to hopefully go there. The interview itself is really more of a conversation than a "interview". Asked me a lot about my experiences and what has made me want to be a NP, why Yale, and challenges I envision in the program.

Good luck everyone!

Hi! I have mine for PNP on Wednesday! After having yours, what do you suggest I prepare for?

How was your interview? What are some suggestions you have? My PNP interview is the 3rd.

Specializes in Midwifery WH Birth Center.

My interview was on 1/26. This is what I shared with an applicant:

Be yourself. Go to the bathroom (if you need to) before the interview and just be yourself. I'm sure the interviewers all have their own style and ask different kinds of questions but that's okay. Just enjoy the process. 1f642.png

^Agreed. By yourself is the best advice. After talking to other specialties everyone does the interview differently.
