It didn't look like there was a thread for 2011 Yale GEPN applicants. Since the application recently opened, I thought I'd start a thread to see if anyone else is starting to work on their application.
Anyone else out there?

Yale's ranking went a bit down in midwifery, but 3 to 5 is no big deal :) I'm still incredibly excited! I'm signing the Columbia rejection today....eep!
I'm signing the Columbia rejection today also...such a relief and load off my shoulders to have finally decided!

Here is some more from her, she's in adult NP or FNP, I think:

My overall experience is a bit of a mix, and this rings true for just about everyone I know in ANY accelerated program. Your experience will highly depend on the director of your specialty. You will likely have sup-par lecturers and frustrating clinical mix-ups. Just about all GEPN programs are disorganized to some extent and it seems that none of the students are treated very well. For the most part, you are treated like they are paying you, rather than vice versa.
I spoke with another friend who is part of the adult psych program, and she's happy to speak with you (although she told me that she doesn't have much that's positive to tell you -- she LOVED the old director but says that the new one is absolutely terrible and no one in the adult psych specialty are having a good experience).
I think it's important to gather as much information as you can, and also to understand that everyone is going to have an opinion : )

Sgmaygeorge-
I'm going into adult psych and would really appreciate it if you could forward me this student's info or the info for the student in adult psych specifically so I can ask her about this. This is a bit bothersome, especially since the director, who I interviewed with, is one of the main reasons I want to accept Yale!
Thanks so much!
Definitely! I wrote back to get the info, so I'll let you know if I can get connected.
I still think the program is great. (I take it all with a grain of salt that sometimes people just don't like change!)

Whoa -- people in adult psych are having a negative experience? Anybody know anything about family psych? I'm on the fence for Columbia/Yale and don't know what to do!!!! I only have like five days to decide haha

I'm new here, but just wanted to say hi to everyone! I'm accepted for the Yale family PNP, so I look forward to meeting many of you in person! I'm leaning heavily towards going to Yale, although I also got accepted into Columbia and Vandy. My Yale financial aid was less than half of the total cost of attendance, and my efc was only 5,000. Does this sound weird to anyone else? I would appreciate your feedback. I'm calling Yale today, but it's probably just one of those "bite the bullet" situations :0)

Hi! Congrats on getting in :)
It's pretty standard to have only half the cost of attendance covered in your package. That's what the GradPlus loans (or private loans) are for.
I just sent in my deposit today! Yay!

Congrats on getting in and sending your deposit! Yay! Thanks for letting me know that it's pretty standard. I've been hoping to go to Yale for a long time, so I'm still stoked!
I feel your pain! I reached out to the friend of a friend and am awaiting a response... I'd confirm both schools as I was easily equally as impressed with each program once I got to spend time around the faculty and get an understanding of clinical placements.
I would also be interested in hearing peoples experiences about the Family Psych NP program.
I'm on the fence between Yale and Vanderbilt. Both are awesome schools, but if students are much happier at one program than another, that would really sway my decision.
Does anybody know anyone I could talk to?

Jon! I hear ya. I'm waiting to hear back from the psych student at Yale, so I'll send their response to my questions. I've heard good things about Vandy's program, so you have great options!
