Yes I've heard of medvance I actually went to a info session they had about the lvn program. They made me take a test about basic math and science and if you passed the test you had a chance to talk with a counselor about the program. The program is pretty expensive its 24,000 I decided not to do it because of the price Im gonna apply to HCC in the fall well good luck on what you decide to do

Christi827,
Kudos for your very WISE choice. That is a ludicrous amount of $ for an LVN program. I wonder how they could talk anyone into it???? Hospital-based LVN jobs are getting pretty scarce, and I doubt that NH salaries could easily support that kind of loan pay back.
Thanks so much yes its pretty outrageous. HCC is way cheaper their lvn program is 3,000. Im gonna do the lvn and do the bridge program to RN. Medvance is crazy for that price there counselor tried to convince me that I should join he said that they had a couple of people who dropped out the program because they didnt have there money on time.I dont blame them that price is ridiculous.

Wharton County Junior College has both LVN and RN programs. Have no idea about the waiting list! Wharton is about 50 miles from downtown Houston down Hwy 59 south.

Victoria College ((referenced above)) http://www.victoriacollege.edu has an LVN program that is fairly easy to get in to. There is no carry-over wait list. If you aren't selected off the wait list for 2010, for example, you are welcome to re-apply in 2011... The requirements are fairly basic... Program includes 5 different 'campuses' - Hallettsville, Cuero, Gonzales, Victoria Day, and Victoria Evening - each campus accepting between 30 and 50 candidates each.
It is not based on the NET test like other programs though. This year they used the DET test. I've taken both (long story lol) and the DET has a more detailed and challenging English section.
Unfortunately, the admission requirements must be met by April 1... and that would be very difficult to do considering program requirements include pre-qualification by fingerprint background check for the NCLEX.
There is an ADN-RN program as well, with entry available in Fall or Spring. Spring entry is far more competitive than Fall - only 50 candidates accepted for Spring.
Both programs are VERY affordable. I believe my counselor told me $2500 was the average cost for the RN program... LVN would be less than that.
Hope this helps!
