Hello all,

Let's start this 2020 application cycle thread. Anyone will be applying this Summer?

For those that do get in... Here is a list of things you are expected to take care of before classes start. We had less than 5 University business days (they closed for Christmas ?) to take care of this stuff
1- pay for ATI ($550-900 CASH only, no CCs or online payments)... previous year were $500, N19s saw a price increase and future classes can expect an increase also
2- alllll your vaccines including:

*two TB tests, *3 tetorifice shots (one must be within the last 10 yrs and can’t expire before graduation), *MMR series or titer, *Varicella series or titer, *Hep B series or titer
-current 2020 flu shot
-current physical with CBC, lipid profile & vitals.
-current unexpired CPR card (if it expires before end of the program, you will have to redo & pay for the American Heart Association CPR class of your choice. Last year the university hosted one for a fee.)

For my fellow CNAs & healthcare workers, I used my job to cover my CPR, and outdated vaccines while I was still employed. They will often do this anyway so I didn’t have to mention it was related to nursing school.

Take care of these things BEFORE!! the holidays to save yourself some trouble. Also if you are from out of state have physical copies of all items just Incase...

Hi, I was wondering about the ATI test. When did you have to take it? Did you have time to prep for it? I worried about it because my math skills are so-so))

@NP_trackN ATI is not a “Test”. ATI is a program (kinda like Kaplan) that does modules, quizzes, eBooks, & VERY helpful study tips for your NCLEX, the National nursing exam . Everybody is required to buy the ATI program. There are different assignments for your different classes thru out the ABSN program.

Part of your grade from a class may come from simulations, practice quizzes or HW you complete on ATI. I’ve attached a copy of what one of my screens with practice SIMS on ATI looks like.

Ah, I see, you didn't have to take the ATI TEAS test itself that many nursing programs require, correct? You had to buy a prep program and use it as you move along? Thanks a lot for your help!

Correct, WSSU is one of the few NC programs that does not require the TEAS.

Do any of you know anything about the ABSN program at Northeastern University in Charlotte? I went ahead and applied there as well and just found out last week (which was actually the time they said they would notify me) I was accepted. Just wondering if anyone knew about the program there. WSSU is definitely my first choice but my GPA according to the application process is borderline. Northeastern university uses your last 60 credit hours as your current GPA and with that system my GPA is a 3.7. But I totally messed around my first two semesters with my first bachelors.

I actually was going to apply . They have a person that reaches out to you to give you details and go through the application process. They have a rolling basis application cycle 3 times a year and he said as long as I did what he suggested I would be able to get it . The class work is mainly online and they allow students to work . The only thing is that the tuition is so much almost $80,000

For those of you that have transferred to WSSU, when did you hear a decision? ?

Is that instate tuition or out of state?

I looked into the school as a back up because I live in Charlotte and that is actually in state tuition!

When looking at other ABSN programs I researched the NCLEX pass rate percentage too...that might influence someone's decision.

Hopefully we hear today!

I was going to apply as well. I went through the over the phone consultation (if you wanna call it that) with a counselor. It’s just too expensive for me so I opted out.
