Would you retake the Teas V?

Published

Hi everyone! I am a nervous wreck at the moment.I just took my teas test and I made a 63.3% which I passed. The minimum score to achieve was a 58.7%.

I have talked to the nursing department and the secretary said that the Teas score counts as 50% and 40% is the GPA of greater than 2.75. And 10% is if you live in the same county as the school. (Which I do)

So my GPA on the prerequisites is a 3.41 and with the Teas score of a 63.3%.

My question is would you retake the Teas to try for a better score?

What's the average weighted score of accepted students? You should find that out and see where you stand. In general, 63.3% is not competitive. If it's 50% weight I would shoot for a much higher score to secure a spot in the class.

Retake it. Knowing how competitive nursing is your GPA isn't that competitive to begin with and your TEAS isn't high enough to offset your grades

Find out the retake policy with your program. Not all programs accept students with repeated attempts, and those that do have varying policies.

I'd retake it

Thanks :)

Your thread's been moved to the TEAS forum for more feedback.

Before you retake the test, talk to an admissions advisor and find out what score you need to be competitive, that way you have something to aim for. For example, my school has a minimum of 60 to apply, but you need to score at least in the 80s if you want to even be considered. Also, as previously mentioned, some schools have wonky policies in regards to retaking the TEAS. Find out how many times you can take the TEAS (twice in a year, twice in two years etc), find out if they average test scores together, and, if this is a points-based admissions system, find out if they dock points for taking it more than once. Good luck!!
