I haven't been in school in 12 years and I need to take Chemistry of some type and AP I...would I be nuts to take both of these at once?
I also will be working a full-time job (something should come through for me soon), and a single parent to one very active 2 -year old...lol...aren't they all?:typing

Although you have alot going on, what you're asking about is doable. However, it will require skilled TIME MANAGEMENT....You stated you are a parent and you work full-time, those classes are both lecture and lab;with assignments usually do in both. It's like taking four courses. So, you'll definitely need alot of time for studying in addition to other responsibilities. If you have or can find outside support to help make it easier , go for it!!

I would not take chemistry and A&P together. Take chemistry first. I know most schools, chemistry has to be taken before A&P. My school, I could not do both classes together. Good luck to you

Obviously, there are a lot of personal factors that only you can evaluate in making this decision. For instance, do you have children? Younger or older? Do you have a supportive spouse? Do you need to work full- or part-time?
Chemistry was not a prereq for A&P at my school, and frankly I can't imagine why it would be anywhere. There's not much chem involved in A&P. Cell biology, yes.
Personally, I took A&P I and medical microbiology (both with labs) concurrently, and I was working full-time, and I was spending one full day per week caring for my elderly father-in-law. I have no children at home, and I have an incredibly supportive spouse. I earned an A and A-, respectively.
I know chem is hard, but I can't see that it's so much harder than medical micro. I think you can do both classes concurrently if you manage your time well. One strategy I used was scheduling time at the library for studying, rather than trying to do it all at home -- where there are waaay too many distractions!
Good luck to you!

One of the best ways I use to manage my time is school is to count the number of hrs I will be doing for work, school, family and commute. The hours tend to add up FAST! Both AP and Chemistry are hard classes with labs that require a lot of time. Personally, if I had your schedule, I would only take one class.....however, only you can make the decision on what is right for you.
Best of luck!! :)

Do you think you can handle it? I personally am good in both subjects, so I could definitely handle them both. If Chem or Bio isn't particularly strong for you, I'd advocate not doing it. However, if they are the only two classes you're taking (8 hours), 8 hours and a full-time job is very doable.

I think it depends on how you feel and if you think you can.
Good Luck!

I took chem and a&p1 together. Chem came really easy for me, but the course load was psychotic. I can't tell you how many times I threw a textbook across the room while studying.
It's doable, but not easy.

No, dont do it if you are working full time. I only have A&P 2 and Chem left and I am not taking them together. NoooWay. Hope that helps.

I think it would be difficult to do both classes at the same time if you were working fulltime also. How many hours a night would you be in class? How many hours would that leave you to study? Study groups? Realistically...I couldn't study with my two year old running around. It was also difficult when my kids got sick and I was up at night with them. That meant I was tired, couldn't study well, etc. I say take one class at a time and work hard to get an A.
