Hi guys, i'm a pre nursing student in southern California. I will be going through an ADN program at one of the local community colleges. All of the community colleges around here go by a point/lottery system and on the application, for 5 points, is health care/volunteer experience.I currently work at a drug and alcohol rehab facility. My job consists of monitoring ambulatory detox/vital signs, drug testing and supervising patients on breaks/dinner time. Our program nurse said this would probably be considered health care work experience but what do you guys think? Could i consider this as health care experience on the nursing program application? Thanks guys!
OF COURSE!!
You are working directly with patients, recording vital signs and im sure reporting that to other people. I would find that extremely helpful during a psych clinical.
I would definitely put that on an application. If you have an interview for the program. Bring a resume and explain any types of patient care you have experience with.
