  1. Finished Micro with an A! I'm so excited. Congratulations to everyone who completed Micro this semester, and good luck to everyone taking it next semester!
  2. It would be equivalent. My school just splits the 2 semester A&P class into 2 one semester classes, Anatomy and Physiology (4 units each). I was just wondering which route is recommended more. Taking the 2 separate classes back to back would be about 12pm-10pm 2 days a week. Plus the workload for those two classes alone is equivalent to a full schedule.
  3. Take micro by itself. I'm taking it with math and english and it's more than enough. Lots of information I'm taking anatomy and physiology next semester..assuming I can get into both
  4. I'm a little farther south than you haha I live in Temecula and go to school in San Marcos. Micro is a lot of work but I really enjoy the class. My professor makes it very relevant to healthcare, especially nursing. I have heard that some programs prefer you to take the classes separately but it seems like more and more schools are going to A&P. Looks like I have my schedule for next semester already planned out. Thanks for the input guys!
  5. I am currently a pre-nursing student in Microbiology. Next semester I will be taking Anatomy and Physiology. My school offers the two classes separately, one semester each, while the other community colleges in the area (southern California) offer A&P 1 and 2. Which would you recommend I do? Take Anatomy and Physiology at my school separately and finish them this Spring? Or transfer to another community college and take A&P 1 and 2 this Spring and next Fall? Thanks for any input!
  6. I am just a pre-nursing student but from what I've heard NP's are more specialized in one particular area. PA's are more general practice. A PA would work under a physician, whereas an NP wouldn't have to (in most states). Both can write prescriptions, although I believe they are both limited in the prescriptions they can write. The salaries are fairly close but they can vary. The reason why I am choosing NP is because I like the nursing route as opposed to the PA route. The nursing route is a little bit more time, but the fact that I can start working after getting my associates is why I am choosing this route. The best thing you can do is to talk to both an NP and a PA and see which one sounds better to you. Good luck!
  7. Got an A on my first exam! ahh so relieved. Flash cards before bed was a good idea :)
  8. I'm really liking micro so far. We just had our first exam yesterday. I was so relieved when I realized I knew everything that was on it. Hopefully it continues this way. We have already lost about half of our class of 32 though Hang in there guys!
  9. I started micro a couple weeks ago. So far the content isn't all that hard, for me anyway(my lab partner disagrees). I have a great professor who has all of her lectures from last year recorded on blackboard. As well as review video lectures. She makes the class hard, to prepare us for future nursing/PA courses, but she gives us every resource she can to help us out. I've heard it's the hardest pre req, so I'm excited to be done with it. Good luck to everyone else taking micro!
  10. Thank you guys! My professor seems to have done absolutely everything she can to help us. She has all of her lectures recorded on the school website, as well as a few videos. I'm just going to have to tough it out. It only gets harder from here haha. Glad to know A&P won't be as difficult.. hopefully. haha
  11. Hi guys, I just started my Fall semester today. I'm taking Microbiology, English 100 and Intermediate Algebra. My question is: of the science classes, what was the most difficult nursing pre req? At my school we just need Fundamentals of Bio, Micro, Anatomy and Physiology. In the syllabus it says to be prepared to dedicate about 20 hours a week outside of class time for Micro (homework/studying). From your experiences, does that sound about right? Thanks guys!
  12. Hi guys, i'm a pre nursing student in southern California. I will be going through an ADN program at one of the local community colleges. All of the community colleges around here go by a point/lottery system and on the application, for 5 points, is health care/volunteer experience. I currently work at a drug and alcohol rehab facility. My job consists of monitoring ambulatory detox/vital signs, drug testing and supervising patients on breaks/dinner time. Our program nurse said this would probably be considered health care work experience but what do you guys think? Could i consider this as health care experience on the nursing program application? Thanks guys!
