Silverdragon102,
Thank you for your suggestion. However, I have already spent hours reading through the posts in this forum and of the like, so I'm already a few step ahead of you on that one. I am asking those in the area to see how things are now, a lot of what I read through was from 2008 and 2009. The economy is not a night and day fix so I am curious how it is most recently. Have you ever worked in the area, before UK/Canada? If so, then my question does actually apply to you.. I'm wondering how the market is these days, as in past couple of months. Recently.
Thank you for you time and thoughts

Couple of threads that are recent and post about difficulties for new grads in Boston
boston nurses--what makes boston a great place for nurses? - Nursing for Nurses
Hiring in Mass - Nursing for Nurses
moving to Boston - Nursing for Nurses
anyone else a new grad nurse from spring 2009 and no job? - Nursing for Nurses
I work in Boston, not only are there no jobs, many places are laying off or even closing hospitals. Most hospitals in Boston are union hospitals meaning the last one hired is the first to be let go. Some places are looking to cut nursing pay.
New grads are working in nursing homes if they are lucky. New grad pay is about $25/hr + diff. The cost of living is high.
There are no jobs anywhere in MA. Not Boston, not metro Boston, not central or western MA. No hospital jobs, no hursing home jobs, no outpatient jobs. Anywhere. At all. Hope this clears up any confusion. There haven't been jobs in MA for new grads in almost three years, and it's very difficult for experienced nurses to find a decent position. Nothing has changed a single iota since any of those posts were made, regardless of the date they were posted.
Thanks MedSurg32RN. Does this apply to the surround areas? Cambridge, Somerville, etc.? Or are these places considered "Boston"?
Yes I live in the suburbs and that is where many hospitals are about to close.....Cambridge and Somerville are considered a Boston Hospital.
I agree with the other poster, there are no jobs and even working in a SNF, jobs are few and very competitive.

You are completely right but I don't think you needed to be so harsh.
May 2009 new grad here!! As a CNA in a major boston hospital, even I am having difficulties getting a job.....
I have been looking at Rhode Island and NH for a couple months now.
I don't have a clue why any new grad would want to move to Boston at this time, unless they were looking for jobs in nursing homes/rehabs. But even THOSE places expect 1-2 yrs med-surg experience! Don't bother moving to boston unless you have your BSN and you have AT LEAST 1 year experience in an acute care setting...
I don't mean to be so discouraging, but it is the saddd reality of things here....
