I have been offered a job at two different hospitals.

1.) CVICU at Baptist Memphis, TN

2.) CSICU at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore MD.

Both of these hospitals meet the requirements of ICU experience. Both are Cardiovascular ICU experience.

Would the job at Johns Hopkins look better on my resume when applying to schools?

Any advice?

Any comment would be greatly appreciated.

I have to make a decision within a week.

John Hopkins definitely

Specializes in Anesthesia.

Either position will do. Take the position that you like the best.

I know that either one will do.

I was just wondering if working at Johns Hopkins will have any favor when it comes time to applying.

It would be a bigger move for me, but if it would pay off, then I would definitly do this.

I don't think either one will really matter unless one ICU or the other has close academic ties to a school you are wanting to apply to.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Does anyone else have any input on this decision?

Specializes in ER/ICU/STICU.

I agree with wtbcrna. Your experience is just one peice of the puzzle when it comes time to apply for school.

Again, I agree that it is just one peice of the puzzle when applying.

But I want every edge that I can get.

If working at Hopkins can give me an edge over working at a smaller hospital, then that is the route I will choose.

I just don't know how much of an edge if any it would give me....that's what I'm trying to figure out.

Baptist hospital sounds pretty good to me and any nurse anesthesia school near there will probably know all about it.

Yea I know that Baptist is a great hospital. I'm not trying to deny that.

I also know that Hopkins is hands down the #1 hospital in the US.

I'm just trying to find out if there would be any upside to having Hopkins listed on my application as opposed to some other hospital.

Specializes in CTICU.

It seems like (in my opinion) you have already convinced yourself that Johns Hopkins is the best place for you to work and that you are trying to find someone to talk you out of it.
