I can't believe the struggles i've been through in my life. I was on my last semester of teacher education and i dropped the course. I was half way finished with the medeical assisting program but i didn't finish it. Now, i'm in the nursing program and its the 7th week of class and i feel like quitting. The instructors want to see some confidence out of me, but i dont have any. I'm not smart, i get nervous easily, and i have adhd. What am i going to do? Luckily, i have a BA in sociology, and i could possibly become a social worker. I need inspirational advice.

I have a hard time believing you aren't smart. Just getting INTO nursing school is hard work. Confidence is something you'll learn after you are in the program for a while and you have more skills. ACT like you have confidence, and before you know it, you won't be acting anymore. Get into a study group. Go to the special needs office of your school and they should help you with your tests. We have a PASS office that allows students with disabilities like ADHD and dyslexia take tests in their office instead of in the classroom. My best advice for you is to NOT QUIT. You've gotten into the habit of quitting when things get difficult and that will get you nowhere in life. Break the pattern now. If your dream is to be a nurse then you need to stick with it and maybe when you graduate you can pass on some encouraging words to someone else who's struggling. Good luck!

Everyone get nervous so that is normal. Perhaps you are just not sure what you want to do with your career. I had this same problem. I changed my major about 4 times before I decided to go into nursing. What I did was go to the counseling center and I took a battery of exams to help me decide what my interests were and that is how nursing came up as the final choice.

It doesn't matter if you are young, old or somewhere in between. LIFE IS HARD! This is my motto borrowed from Nugent and Vitale:
"ANY WORTHWHILE GOAL DESERVES THE EFFORT NECESSARY TO ACHIEVE SUCCESS. BEING OVER PREPARED IS THE BEST WAY TO PLACE YOURSELF IN A POSITION OF STRENGTH".
Be proud that you actually made it into nursing school and take the advice about going in to your college's achievement center and getting the help you need. I had to put my pride aside and JUST DO IT!
If you REALLY want something you WILL find a way to acheive it. There is no such thing as luck. God Bless :)

You pretty much just have to decide and then do whatever that decision is. Nobody is getting through nursing school without thinking of quitting at least once. There is not a single career on earth in which you will not have any second thoughts and no schooling that won't trigger the same thing. You hold all the cards and all the power here.
ADHD? See your doctor and a counselor if you don't have it under control.
Bored? Oh well. Muscle through it.
Lazy? Oh well. Muscle through it.
Unsure of yourself? Muscle through it and the confidence will come.
Life is largely cyclical...it feels great for a while, then not so much, then awful, then it gets a bit better, then it feels great for a while...etc etc. etc. Learn to wait out the cycles. You are a sprinter it sounds like, not a marathon runner. Recognize this about yourself and then make the determination that for however many semesters nursing school is, you will muscle through it. All that is left for you if you quit is more feeling bad about yourself. Think about that. Really picture it.
