WooHoo! First Week Down!

Published

First week of RN nursing school is done!! At APSU (TN) it wasn't that bad! There is alot of reading, but I expected that. The teachers seem very organized and gave us a boatload of information the first two days of class. Tuesday is our first day of official clinicals and we have to wear uniforms (goody! Sometimes I think I went into this just for the cute scrubs!). Really, compared to some schools I have heard about on this blog, our school is pretty good! The teachers really seem to want us to succeed. I am so looking forward to the next week- I hope I can keep up this enthusiasm for the next two years!!!

Glad all is going well. You will have ups and downs, for sure. But a positive attitude will take you a long way! :smokin:

Good luck! :) But realize, its gonna get harder, just keep your enthusiastic attitude and stay positive. Enjoy clinicals, I loved them.

I helped rebuild APSU after the tornado a few years back....its a great school :)

That is great about your first week, you should come join us over in the General Nursing Student section, a lot of us have been posting about our first weeks over there, I am sure they would love to hear more positive stories :D I just started a few weeks ago as well and it's been great, not near as scary as people made it seem. Although it's still early of course LOL

Way to go! Keep your positive attitude and you'll do well!

If at all possible keep your positive attitude, you will need it. You will have ups and downs, you will have times of "this is so overwhelming" but keep your head up. Not to sound negative but it does get worse, the instructors do want you to succeed but they also are trying to weed out the weak people. There is a lot of stress involved the further you get into the course. The instructors try to stress you out to see if you can handle it, just know that many people before you made it, keep a positive attitude, and don't **** off your clinical instructors because they can fail you without a reason. It is called objective data and they can say that you are not safe as a nurse. Just some things to keep in mind. I do know because I will be graduating in April 2010, I am stressed most of the time, but I get through it because I know what the instructors are trying to do, and I know that it will be over soon. Plus I have to give the glory to God because I know that he put me on this earth to be and nurse and paramedic to save lives. You can do it, stay positive and good luck to you. Good luck to all the other students out there also.
