Hi everyone,
I took NCLEX for the first time on July 8th, got 265 questions in about 5 hrs., and failed. To top it off, I had my DAD call the number to find out if i passed because i was too scared to find out for myself. Needless to say, my dad had some very depressing news for me. I felt like i not only failed myself, but my entire family. Luckily, i did not have a job lined up unlike some of my friends from school. Nurses from work were so supportive. My family and friends have shown me that failing the test is NOT the end of the world. What also made me feel better was seeing my results sheet that said i was near the passing standard in all areas and that i was not below passing standard in any area. That showed me that i DID learn stuff from school and that with more focused studying, i could probably beat NCLEX the next time.
ANYWAY, im just here looking for some words of wisdom. I have begun looking at the random facts thread which is AWESOME. I am also almost done with Saunder's 4th Edition & I plan on testing again by the end of this month.
Thanks all for your help!

Practice questions and understand what they are looking for and the rationale.
Good luck

Personally for me the random facts thread was great for studying. Lots of great tips and support. The fact that you were close is a good thing, so consider it a positive. Just means you gotta brush up on how you'll use what you know. NCLEX is not really testing what you know, so much as how you'll use what you know to be a safe nurse and provide safe, quality care . You'll be a nurse soon.:redpinkhe Good luck! Also, if you like the random facts thread, look for the infection control thread and I think somewhere there is a random nutrition thread here too.

I am in the same situation as you. I failed my NCLEX the first time on July 9th going up to 265. Now I am almost done with Saunders and am interested in Suzanne's plan. I would like to take the exam at the end of this month or beginning of October. Good Luck!!!

I understand how you are feeling, I had was once in your shoe. I too failed the first time. When I started studying for the second time, I didn't focus too much on content because I felt that I knew my content but instead, I focus on how to answer each question and understand the rational to each questions. The Kaplan Strategies book was the BEST.

Good luck next time around.. Its funny because i too was in the same position. I took my test on July 7th 2008 and went too all 265 questions! I too had family that made me believe that failing this test wasn't the end of the world! Just be thankful you have a very supportive family because this will take you the farthest in life! Good Luck i too will be taking it for my second time but i think i am waiting till October. Good Luck next time and trust in yourself and you will beat this BEAST!!! :)
