Will Modeling Mess Up My Nursing Career?

I want to be a DNP FNP one day. I did a photoshoot with Abercrombie and Fitch's photographer in 2012, and they didn't choose me (Could be a blessing in disguise). I made a friend who is doing modeling and was thinking about picking that up again as a hobby while I'm gaining experience however I'm scared that it'll mess with the respect I want to obtain as an DNP FNP.

Will people not take me as seriously if I decide to pick that up again? I was thinking more commercial things like JcPenny, scrubs, etc. If anything I can just make a more professional portfolio like news anchor type pictures?

Advice please.

Why would you think it would hurt or affect your nursing career in any way?

I wouldn't think it would hurt your nursing career since it is your business what you do on the side. That being said, my daughter is a model and taking her to last minute go-sees, saying yes to a shoot when you don't know the day or time, things like that will get in the way of your career quick. It takes me, my husband and even my Dad at one point to get her to her shoots. You have to keep an open schedule if you truly want to work as a model. Are you signed with an agency yet? They can tell you all the time that will be involved. Good luck!

I once had a nurse friend who did a little acting/modeling on the side, and

it had no effect on his nursing career. I mean, it did not effect his

schedule because he was just doing little jobs here and there.

As long as you're not posing half naked for, like you said, A+F, I see

no problem.

As long as it's "classy," it shouldn't impact your career negatively.
