Is anyone else nervous about the job situation and the fact that even nurses are now being laid off? I wonder if there will be jobs available when we graduate from nursing school in a few years?

I don't know but GOD I hope so! Like I told my husband, the economy is getting worse every day. At least being a nurse, I have a BETTER chance of getting a job than I have of KEEPING my job as PBX operator now.

part of it depends on where you live and what you want to do. both hospitals here sre still hiring and the ICUs lose several a year to CRNA school. so jobs are still available and 3 years from now things should be better anyhow.

Yes, definitely worried :uhoh21:. But trying not to stress too much, since I won't graduate for two years. Just hoping for the best.

I live in San Francisco, and if there was ever a place with a grim future for jobs, this is it. I keep telling myself it will definitely get better. I'm trying not to stress too much on it. I mean, it's another two years before I graduate, so...
I think the thing to do now is to focus on studying hard and getting through school, not worrying about how the job market will be in a couple of years.

I try not to stress about it too much. I will just perform exceptionally in school go straight into the BSN and then MSN. I'm sure a job will open up along the way. If not, I'll keep working as a banker while knocking on them doors.

I'm sure it will be. I just got on a 2 year waiting list + 2 years of nursing school = 4 years for the economy to recover.
