I am still getting my prerequisites for a BSN degree. Im not going to attend nursing school till my youngest starts kinder.
Well my question is this. I will be graduating from nursing school in spring of 2018 (that is the plan). That is about 4 1/2 years from now. Wow, that sounds so far away. Will the job market improve for RN's by that time? I really can't rely on government projection, I just don't trust them. What do y'all see for the future for us aspiring RN's when it comes to jobs?
Well said. Some people just like to make a mountain out of a mole hill
Thanks. I have seen people do this to others post, they just take one thing about it and go off on it. I never understood why they do this. If I see something weird or strange about some post I read I just let it be.
Ok, so back on topic. I guess I just want to know if y'all see any changes in hiring at the hospitals y'all work at? Do y'all see many very experienced nurses retiring or moving out of bedside? Maybe there might be some nursing schools closing in y'alls area and not pumping out so many nursing students anymore.
Oh and if you find my post sucky and you want to dis it, just move on to another post and have a nice day.
Thanks
You made a flippant comment about the government when that's a big issue in health care now. Don't speak then get mad when people don't respond how you want them to. That's advice to heed not just here but in that first RN job you're trying to land.
Gosh nurses, what did I do so wrong here? All I wanted was some view points on what y'all see going on in hospitals when it comes to jobs. All I said was that I don't trust the government projections on the outlook of nursing. Someone did not like what I said about the freaking government so I was explaining my one statement and how I really don't trust their motives in ANYTHING they do. I already said I should have used the word MANY or SOME instead. I mean what else do you want? I am not mad that someone does not like what I said. All I wanted was help with something I am a bit nervous about. Im not mad at all, just a bit sad that I just wanted insight on a subject and now my post is turning into this discussion on government. Am I in the Twilight Zone or something? Y'all seem to me to be bit sensitive about this whole government stuff. I just want my post back on subject.
Today I celebrated Christmas with my side of the family and had a wonderful time. My kids were happy and had fun with their cousins, the food was great, and we made more memories. My grandmother was giving away her Christmas ornements because she is 90 years old and she knows her time is near. It was a sweet time with her. Such a blessed day I had. Believe me I'm not going to lose sleep over someone not liking my post. Really I'm not.

In case you haven't noticed, but the Affordable Care Act, Medicare, etc. are sensitive topics that illicit strong opinions/emotions - so I would say sensitivity is an expected response.
Also, the irony is not lost on me that you claim to want your post on topic but then talk about your irrelevant family Christmas. If the government comment wasn't related to the topic, why even include it?
The truth is....no one knows. Nursing is ever changing and evolving. The hospitals have been blaming the ACA for some time now as a reason to cut staff and work short. Frankly I don't think your question can be answered until after the next election.Gosh nurses, what did I do so wrong here? The fact is that there is NOT a nursing shortage right now...nor in the foreseeable future...not like it was a few years ago. Many facilities are now saying that only BSN grads are considered. Some parts of the country new grads have a 40-50% unemployment.
This is a great job site that talks about nurse density in certain areas. Nurses Schools, Salaries, and Job Data
