Hie Everyone
I am in a bit of a dilemma here. Im still waiting for my ATT but in the meantime I have seen and applied for this Community nursing post. Currently am ward based. So I need help in knowing whether if I go for the community job will I still be able to get a job in the US or its better I stay on the ward. Its just that the hrs 0900 to 1700 are just tempting and have been doing the job on the agency as extra to my normal job, once a week kinda thing. Your input would me much appreciated. Thanks

No reason why it should effect your job chances in the USA. I currently work in the community and had no problems finding a hospital. A lot depends on whether going with agency or not as I know 1 agency required you to be working in an acute setting. Also depending where you was born may be affected by the retrigression which is looming. Currently no one knows how many countries and which countries will be effected but expected to start in November'ish
Good luck

Thanks for the response.I will probably go for it then. So are you going by yourself then? I think I will look for a hospital myself and go that way. Im British and do not know how this retrogression will be by the time I pass and look for a job. Thanks once again and all the best to you too.

More or less doing it direct, using a recruiter and found her helpful to sort out problems as she doesn't have the time difference the same as us to contend with

Hi :)
I was a Community Nurse prior to coming to the US and it didn't affect my job prospects, so I say go for it......you'll love Community Nursing, I sure did!

I had been out of the hospital enviroment for over 12 years prior to getting a job here in Florida and it didnt affect my job prospects at all...so go for the job...sounds a great job

There is homecare in the US too - my recruiter has it on the list of jobs that I might be offered nearer the time my immigration is sorted out. Therefore, it could even be counted as relevant experience anyway!
Thanks so much everyone. Much appreciated. I will go for it just waiting for an interview date will keep you posted how it goes.
