Why does a standing up for a long time cause to hypotension?

I would like to understand the mecanism of the hypotension in time of standing up for a long time. Thank you.

I wasn't aware that it does. What is the source of your statement?

Perhaps you mean orthostatic hypotension, where sudden changes in posture (standing up quickly, for instance) can cause BP to drop suddenly?

We are happy to help but we need to know what your research has revealed to you!. What semester/year are you in school?

I suppose standing in one place for a long time could cause hypotension. To the OP, why, at least in theory, could this happen? Also, why is the "in one place" important, as opposed to walking around now and then?

There is information out there....I need the OP to show they have done some research....I will fill in the blanks.

Because standing in one place without moving doesn't force/pump the blood throughout your body. Standing in one place can maybe cause pooling ... in THEORY. Doubt this happens clinically/real world. I mean, they'd have to stand still in the same spot without walking.

If you're walking your heart is pumping faster to deliver blood/nutrients and O2 to your muscles and by pumping the blood it gets going which will naturally keep BP from dipping?

Idk... what an interesting yet odd question. =)

Thank you all, but I don't see here any real answer.

keep standing for a long time causes to BP to be low.

OI've taken care of people who passed out after standing in place for a long time…for example, when they were in a choir. Why would standing in one place (big hint: legs not moving) matter?

You are invented to google the words: "soldier + fainting". and then enter to google image. You will have the answer... on my question.

How is my answer not real? I believe my answer is partially if not 100% correct. Why don't you tell us your thoughts?

If YOU don't see any "real" answers maybe YOU should start using your brain.

Much of the problem people in choirs have is not just standing in one place for extended periods of time, the problem happens primarily when the knees are extended and "locked out."

Maybe search Google for hypotension and syncope in choral performances.

Haha sooo right. My choir teacher: "don't lock your knees".

So like I said not moving your legs, blood pooling in one place. Locked knees may make it hard to propagate venous return. These are my guesses.
