I thought there was this SOLID, well-known reason that everyone one knew - but being new, I was missing!
"...Probably to prevent the celebrating and sobbing from disturbing other testtakers...."
I took my youngest for her driver's test last year, and you could always tell by the faces (especially the girls) who passed and who didn't!
I thought that I read that they go back and handscore each test to make sure the grading was correct...I can't imagine the computer screws up really that often! I have tested out of other subjects at the same testing facility and always got my result right there. I think the nclex website has info.
Probably to prevent the celebrating and sobbing from disturbing other testtakers.
And people wanting immediate answers and arguing and whining and threatening the testers...etc.
These days when postal workers shoot up their workplaces, road rage runs rampant, and students murdering their classmates for a pair of shoes, this is a very good SOLID reason not to give immediate results.
Please also understand that in some places, and less than ten years ago, we were required to wait up to 10 weeks for results. What is the big deal about a few days.

The NCLEX is graded twice. Once at the testing center, then again by the state board to ensure accuracy.
I don't think it has anything to do with potential reactions from those who do not pass. Although, it would make perfect sense. I wouldn't want to hear someone crying or whispering "YES" while I was testing. It would make me lose focus.

I am only starting my nursing classes in August - but have been reading here since January!
Can someone explain to me why you are not informed immediately if you passed or failed the NCLEX?
I am taking an online class presently and took my first onsite test. At the end of the test my score came on the screen. Why not with the NCLEX?
