Why is the board of nursing taking so long???

Nurses Recovery

Published

Hi, has anyone waited close to a year before their case was reviewed and decided on by the board of nursing?

I self reported back in Feb , and my case hasn't come up yet, I've talked to the investigator every month or 2 , it just seems like it's taking forever.

Im thankful my RN license is still active , I'm working at a dialysis center and I really like it

Thank you for responding.. I will get back on here when I have more time. Merry Christmas í ¼í¾„í ¼í¾

I got the typical 2 years of probation, random drug screens, had to pay a fine.....

Did you get to work with restrictions on your license the 2 years you were on probation?

Thank you so much , I will be glad to get everything started .

im blessed to be working as a dialysis nurse right now - they have nurses in recovery

I am allowed to work. They did not place me on a narcotic restriction. They did restrict the areas that I could work in though. They also made a stipulation that I can't be in charge or the only RN on the floor. I have some applications out at dialysis companies and have phone interviews scheduled for next week! Fingers crossed that one of them will give me a chance! Hope you have a Merry Christmas!

Good! I really like dialsysis . I work for Fresenius - it's a very good company .

ive worked hospital , long term care and home health over the last 20 years (home health being my last job) and compared to what I'm used to - dialysis is very little charting - and we stay busy so time flies! Ha!

i will prob have narc restrictions /which is fine- we don't have anything stronger than Tylenol at dialysis so that wouldn't be a problem... my diversion involved narcotics (Lortab) so I can understand if I have narc restrictions.

Dec 1st marked my 1 year sobriety, yay!

Good luck - praying you hear something from dialysis.

Merry Christmas!

Thank you Tiff! Hope you were able to enjoy your holiday! Fingers crossed that I will hear something this week!

Hi , I have a question. When the BON got back with you after 2 years- what was your outcome? Thanks

Hi , I have a question. After 3 years waiting - did you have to repeat any rehab , etc? Did they contact you by phone or by letter? It will be 2 years for me in Feb since I talked to an investigator

They took THREE to get to me. I was inactive and not working as a nurse obviously. I was luckier than most and my stipulations are lighter. I don't know if it is because they made me wait so long, my previous employer was kinder than I anticipated, or they lost paperwork?? Who knows how they think...

Thank u. Hopefully since it's taking so long , maybe my stipulations will be lighter too. I pray so. I'm working in dialysis now and they are recovery friendly so if I have narc restrictions it's fine, we don't give narcotics. I confided in my manager and told her everything, thank God she knew me before all of this and us giving me a chance.

When they contacted u after 3 years, was it by letter? Had you already met with an investigator?

They contacted my lawyer first. When everything happened I had a lawyer asap and never met with an investigator which I believe helped me. I most certainly would have shot myself in the foot.

Oh ok. I didn't hire a lawyer. I might though, if I can't some extensive stipulations . I expect some , but not severe this late- 2 years later.
