hey!! who's working today? i am. i don't mind though, it is part of the job. been a nurse 26 & 1/2 years, this is not the first holiday i have worked and it will not be the last. hey, at least i have a good paying job that i love:yeah: we have have a fun group working today so that makes 12 hours nice. we will not have that many parents and visitors to deal with tonight so all the better.!!! what gets on my nerves is every year we have a full term billi baby, on full feeds in our unit on christmas and it is that mom & dad whom try to play the "poor me ,i have a very sick child in the hospital @ christmas bit" while in the next bed is a 300gram, 23 weeker on 6 gtts, osslicator, under 4 bili lights and draining the blood bank of all it's products, whoes mom & dad don't even grasp the gravity of the situation..... oh well merry christmas all you nicu nurses & don't eat too many cookies @ work today!

I was scheduled to work last night and tonight....practically begged everyone who was off to switch holidays with me... no luck.
Then Saturday night, someone at the last minute needed off the weekend and offered to work for me! Sure it means I have to work 5 on, 1 off and 4 on, but who cares!!
Anyway, my thoughts are with all of you that are working this holiday....!

We have to work Christmas every third year, I worked last year, so I am safe this year. I didn't mind working last year, my family had Christmas on Christmas Eve. We had a great group of parents last year at Christmas and it was just a really nice day.
