In school, my professors were willing to write recommendation letters and act as references. I have one former supervisor that was willing to be a reference over a year ago, but she moved jobs. My other former supervisor told me she is not allowed to act as a reference per HR policy.
I don't know who I would ask. I am nervous asking current coworkers. One coworker encouraged me to apply for an open position, but when I asked her if she was willing to be a reference, her reply was not very enthusiastic (but a yes).

My old professors may be willing but the time I have been out of school gets longer and I hope that they still remember me.
