i am about to finish up my pre-reqs at hfcc and take my net. after that, i can finally put my name on the waitlist. i drive from ann arbor to hfcc because i was told their waitlist is 6-18 mos, whereas washtenaw community college (which i live 2 miles from!!!) has a 3-4yr waitlist.
what other community college's have a state approved adn program? i didn't know i really had any options other than waiting it out (and driving lots!!) at hfcc... is there someplace else with a shorter waitlist that i should consider?
thanks!! :redbeathe
i know, isn't that astounding?? i couldn't believe my ears; that sounds soooo far in the future! that's why i was considering getting my cna in the meantime. that way i'd have something to do, i'd possibly find a job in a hospital and i'd gain experience while waiting it out on the list.what do you think?? :heartbeat
i think that is a great idea. can you get in at st. joe's, or at the u? my friend loved pca'ing at sjmh while in ns. working as an aid will give you tons of experience and confidence as you move into your clinicals once you are in ns. the money is good, too, which you will need to pay for all that gas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

~ they are not the same; i know for sure ma's work over in mott they are basically aides who can draw blood; techs work throughout the hospital depending which unit has them, they are aides that do what nurses do besides passing any meds; aides are union and dont draw blood or do catheters or dressings, basically they help with basic nessities like cleaning, getting out of bed, walking, and checking blood pressurs oh also empting drains. just a tip; it is harder to get an aide position because it has to be offered to all "inhouse" employees of the uofm before offered to the public, you hear mas because there not union and can hire someone from the outside. good luck:heartbeat!
Wayne County communtiy college has no waiting list, it takes 120 students twice a year. It goes off of the highest GPA, I heard just this last fall the lowest GPA to get in was a 3.4. They advise u to keep your GPA at a 3.5 to be one of the more competitive students. The NET is used as a tie breaker, but you only need a 51 to pass it and a 60 on the writing.. Hope this helps
