Is their anyone in your life that inspires you? Motivates you to continue up and down the road of being a Nurse? My motivation comes from my daughter. There are a lot of times where i feel that i want to just quit and go back to Accounting. There are times i'm working so hard, then come home so tired and have to study. She alway's tells me " never give up daddy, the only thing you can do is do your best" My daughter motivates me so much that i just have to continue, don't let no obstacles get in my way. She gives me that extra energy to continue and know that down the road, my goal of being a nurse, my second career that should of been my first career, my passion is at the end. I just wanted to share my story with you all because motivation, inspiration certainly does take you a long way. Motivation, inspiration can come from anyone or anything in your life. I would like to hear your stories. Good everyone, we can do this.

What an encouraging story and incredible little girl you have! It's true motivation and support really can make or break ones path.
For me, mostly it's the patients I care for now who inspire me to want to be able to deliver the best care and help them as much as I can. My husband is who keeps me focused and lifts me up when I'm knocked down. He's seen it all and I really could not do it without him.
Having the support along the way from my husband and others has made me realize how crucial encouragement and support is to achieve ones goal. It's made me better at encouraging others too.
Best of luck to all of you!

You have a great husband that keeps you focused and who is their for you through thick and thin, ups and downs. It's alway's good to have the other half that truly supports you. Make your day that much special. That is great that you want to provide the best care for your patients and they inspire you to wanting to be their at work. You can't get far without support and motivation. Great story and i wish you and everybody the best of luck.

My mom is one person who inspires/motivates me. Reason being is because when she graduated school she started college to become a nurse. Obstacles got in the way and she was never able to finish. She wants me to be a nurse because it was something she always wanted to do, and she knows that's where my heart is. Quitting isn't even an option. I would never want to disappoint her or myself so I have to keep pushing.
My boyfriend is another person who inspires/motivates me. Honestly, when I feel like I want to quit I talk to him and he's always there to lift me back up. He is also in school (not for nursing), but we are able to keep each other focused and on the right track which is good.
I also inspire/motivate myself. Of course there are times when it's extremely hard, but what's the point of having inspiration and motivation from others when you don't inspire yourself? I have to remind myself that college is only temporary and my career in the end is what really matters so I HAVE to do it.
It's always good to have the support from someone, so I would consider myself lucky that I have support from the two people that make the biggest impact on my life. Like you said, without support and motivation you really can't get far so I'm glad I have both.

The person that motivates me most is my son. Going through his cancer diagnosis, and knowing what he had to go through; well if he can handle that before turning a year old, I should be able to handle this! He keeps be going through a lot of things. When I would be overwhelmed crying because of Chemistry, and not sure what to do...that is what would keep me going.
On top of that I want my kids to know that just because I had them, didn't mean I couldn't still follow my dreams. I had my first child when I was 18 years old, and I don't ever want my children to feel like they stopped me from doing my dream. :)

Man i feel you on that, You are absolutely right that you shouldn't let your children feel that they stopped you dream. No child should have to feel that way. You going to do great. Hope your son is doing great.
Agreed. I don't like it when some young parents kind of blame their lack of motivation/life on them. You can do it if you're REALLY motivated. He is doing better, thank you. :)

My children are my biggest motivators. I hate struggling financially. Not being able to give them everything they want and need. I want to provide and better life for them. And I agree with illusion, I want to show them how it is never to late to follow your dreams. That you should never give up. If you work hard, and want something bad enough, you can attain it.
And I have to add my husband here as well. He is so strong, he would do anything for this family. When he lost his job 3 years ago, it was awful. He couldn't find work, so decide to go into trucking, which is what he did when he was in the Army. He has no degree, and his options were limited. He works his butt off, missing many important things, to earn enough to pay our rent, bills and put food on the table. We agreed that if I was able to work and make enough money, he would quit his job, and go back to school himself. I miss him, so do the kids, so of course we want him home every night. But he also deserves to follow his dreams.

Thats a true husband right there, that will do anything for his family, no matter what job it is as long as their is food on the table. You will succeed because besides you working hard for your goal, you have a strong foundation behind you supporting your dream. Good luck. I'm in the spotlight because my daughter is watching me, and i refuse to give up and let her see that because i don't want her to have any ideas that you quit.

My boyfriend. He's a fantastic partner and encourages me every day to work hard and give this all I've got. He gave me a great example while he was in school for engineering, so I've got a great role model, and someone who definitely won't take excuses for not studying, lol. :)
My mom and grandma were also nurses, and my mom has been so generous in taking care of me since I have gone back to school. She tells me about what she sees that will help me be a good nurse, and that keeps me going.
My job as a CNA in hospice right now is a huge motivator. I want to be the best I can for my patients and be their number one advocate, and that's what it's all about.
I wouldn't be lying if I said the career itself is a great motivator. Decent money, decent hours (IF you can learn not to answer the phones on days off ), and the excitement and novelty each day brings. Everything I learn is school is just fascinating, and I love the idea of a career that will let me just keep learning as I go.
