Who is doing/did your AF Commissioning?

Just wondering, for those of you that have already completed the commissioning process and for those of you who are about to, who is going to do your commissioning?

I only ask because I was thinking a lot about this lately and I think I found the one. A close family friend is good friends with a Lt. General (3 star General) in the AF and he agreed to do my commissioning for me. I'm really excited because I couldn't think of a better way to begin my USAF journey than with an entrance guided and initiated with one of the highest ranking officers I'll ever meet.

The cool part is that he's really local and really good friends with my really good friends. So, I told my wife today that I am going to try and have lunch with him a few times or go golfing or something so I can pick his brain a little. I have already decided to be a lifer with an ultimate goal of making Colonel. So, if anyone knows about making rank, it's this guy.

So, let's hear it, who will it be?

Wow, that is pretty awesome and exciting. I may ask a Lt Col (AF) I know, or maybe a Navy Captain I know.

I had a family friend. She retired a Capt in the Nurse Corps, so she had great stories. My commissioning was small, sweet, and short. :)

i had a retired lt. col commission me into the air force. and like annabeap's, mine was small, sweet, and short.

I had my husband who is Capt. commission me! A pretty special moment for us to share!

I'm looking at Army, not Air Force, but my stepfather (retired Army Lt Col) wants to do my commissioning/swearing in. He is all excited about it! He told me "Just say when and where, and I'm there." He and my mom live about 15 hours away, so I'll be sure to give them plenty of notice. :D

If you don't have someone you know, don't worry, the recruiter will make it happen.

I had the colonel who did my interview do it. He and I have kept in touch, and he's turned into a great mentor.

Well that is good to hear and one less thing to worry about.

Specializes in Flight/ICU/CCU/ED/Trauma.

A Col that is one of my ER doc's did mine. My parents were there, my wife and some good friends. I am a civilian flight nurse, so I did it in my uniform at the station...he is also our medical director. Nice day. Did lunch after, but essentially short and sweet.

Specializes in ICU, ER, OR, FNP.

Pick someone that means something to you is my advice. I had a family member do mine. You'll meet many flag Os in your career and you'll quickly learn there's nothing special about them except their retirement check is going to make yours look like it's missing zeros.
