White Scrubs? Advice?

Published

I'm starting nursing school this summer and need to wear all-white scrubs, yuk!. I was going to purchase them online, but have no idea which brands are good or what kind to get. I'm hoping to find some that don't reveal my underwear to the world. :uhoh21:

Thanks for any advice!

They are all see through. Wear nude colored panties...they don't show up as much as white ones :chuckle :) Oh and get a larger scrub top that covers your bottom :wink2:

Even though you plan on buying your scrubs online, still go to a uniform shop and try them on. Also you will get an idea of material weight with a certain brand. As the one poster mentioned you want to be careful what underwear you are wearing. Nude color is fine unless your nursing school mandates white, like mine did several years ago.

Rj:rolleyes:

Jasco used to have a pair that were 'guarenteed' to not reveal.

White sucks, I would get them at walmart and wear bright flowered underpants just to prove a point. ! LOL !

I have two pair of these white pants from the Jasco Uniform Company. They are called "Can't See Thru Me Pant". They were $16.99 one year ago (March '04) They are a sturdy fabric, and really do work. Jasco's online catalog is: http://www.JascoUniform.com

Patient's like their nurses to wear white. They can tell she/he is not the housekeeper that way! I like my darker scrubs, because they're more forgiving of stains, but Biz bleach works OK on the whites...

Thanks so much for the advice. The flowered underwear are tempting :chuckle

I'll check out the Jasco. I just found some karate pants on the web that are really thick and sturdy. Maybe I could get away with them?

Yes, that's the pants i saw. :) Couldn't remember the name of them.

There is scuttlebutt at my hospital that they are going "all white". If this happens, I will find employment elsewhere.

#1 Pts can't tell what specialty is in the room w/ them based on color scheme. To them, EVERYONE is their "nurse". We wear name badges and we are able to talk telling them who we are, why we are there, and what we are going to do. That should suffice.

#2 Having to wear all white just makes us more of a "robot". No individuality permitted as it is. We have to wear some combination of navy blue and white - already taking away most of our individuality.

#3 Most women have problems at one time or another w/ "staining thru".

#4 It gets quite hot when working. Not fair to have us wear extra layers, getting even more overheated, to prevent from underwear and bras from showing thru.

#5 Aren't we trying to "over come" the sterotype of the traditional nurse? In many ways, we are so much more that the nurse of 50 yrs ago.

Ok Im going to play Devils advocate. I am required to wear all white and ya know what? I really don't give a crap. Its a job that's all. It does not define who I am, I still have plenty of individuality.

Yep sometimes you can see my white underware underneath, so what? Its underware. Big deal. Most people wear them.

And yea sometimes I gotta use bleach to get my uniforms clean, they are less than 20 bucks a piece, its really not a major deal if I gotta buy new ones once or twice a year.

Just my two cents worth,... this is NON ISSUE.

OP... I have found LA Rose to be good and also Dickies. I don't like Peaches cause they tend to shrink.

Specializes in ICU, psych, corrections.

For the past 2 years, I wore Dickies to all my clinicals. The material seems to be a bit thicker and with a pair of nude panties, there wasn't any "showing through". They lasted all 2 years and have served me well....and they are being handed down to the next slew of new nursing students for anybody who needs scrubs.
