As a DON in assisted living, I oversee the health needs of 85-plus people, most of whom are a pleasure to know, and I consider it an honor to be entrusted with their lives. Still, I never forget that I'm also a professional who must maintain an appropriate clinical objectivity, and for the most part I don't get too involved in a resident's personal life.
