Munchausen by Internet: The Lying Disease that Preys on the Heart
I must commend the writer of this article, for taking out time to write this piece. A fantastic article it is I must say. Thanks for raising the awareness about this menace, and enlightening the mind of some of us who absolutely have no idea of what it is. I well know that allnurses.com has proven to be a haven for nurses, many persons get support and encouragement from this forum, even in their lowest of lows, that includes but is not restricted to some genuine terminal ailments, with d support and help of nurses on this forum they have been able to pull through or cope with it. Please may this not hinder us in any way from expressing our innate abilities to show compassion and love to one another genuinely from our hearts, which this forum is known for. However our well meaning concern, is to identify symptoms of this psychological disorder, how to handle or cope with individuals who exhibit them, but not to fall prey to unsolicited attention seekers. Or be unusually suspicious of ourselves, doing so will be far from the motive of the writer. Thanks again Tnbutterfly.

Orientation...blechhh
i do suppose that is your interpretation. the point really is discretion is required in everything. whether u are the preceptor or the preceptee.

No one will hire a nurse with only a Associates???
I feel the title of this post should have read; No one hires a nurse with "an" associate degree. typographical errors!

All nurses do is wipe butts

Does my clinical intructor not like me or am I being sensitive?
just keep an open mind, most instructors are there to giuide you aright. my advice to u as a fresh nurse is be positive always. always look at the positive side to most situations or encounter u will face. it would make u a more focused happier person. but welldone on ur posting from wat i can read u are starting ur career well. keep the flag flying.

Sticky fingers-stealing other people's food/office supplies
we had the same problem for some months in the hospital where i work, some person wuld take out bottles of juice, soda cans prepacked lunch. e.t.c. it was hard to get the culprit. but i got fed up and i had, had it upto here. so i decided to label my lunch packs and juice cans. with paper stickers boldly written. "HIV". on all. it was simply hilarious to know that nobody touched my food ever again. even when i forget it behind and go home , i still meet it right there .

Enough is enough- taking back our profession
unionism or activism cannot be found on pages of websites alone.....it goes beyond that it start to grow from ur home front.

Cover your mouth....the right way!
aaargh! i feel terrible just reading ur post. this is soooo not right!!!!! very unhygienic and unprofessional. i guess some nurses would require refresher courses in basic hygiene and handwashing. as regards the urine specimen. standard precautions practices require that we take extra care by gloving . when handling body fluids.
