I've read about CA's regulation of ratio caregiver to patient, but I wonder what else is out there. Are there some states that make it easier/more protected to work in nursing?

I think each state has its pros and cons. There are just so many variables to consider and one person's paradise is another's he**. Personally, I like the West Coast weather and Northern California salary. That's where my hubbie and I are moving when I am finished with school. Right now we are in Nevada. I know other people here that would not move ever even though the ratios aren't that great here.

Not Texas. They pay BSN nurses as low as $19/hr.

Not Mississippi, no nurse:pt ratio (you could clock in one day and find out you got the whole unit to yourself) BON is weak compared to the medical boards and hospital administrations and is all about putting up a good PR thing for the public..As far as the pay, well it seems to vary so much around this state I really can't give it a yea or ney..

I think that working in state with strong nurses unions and high insured rates tend to increase the quality of work life for nurses.
