I am planning go to nursing school next year, do you know which RN program is good? Beside UW, I am thinking to go to BCC, does any one of you went / are going there? I heard that Shoreline has the best RN program amoung community college, so just want to see what is your opinion.

Thanks!

hi i just registered at clark college in vancouver. (was going 3 years ago then got pregnant and was to sick for school) so this will be my first semester back andi am so excited! i plan to get my adn at clark and transfer to wsu directly for my bsn. i am a little daunted by all the wait lists for practically EVERY CLASS! even prerequesites! oh well let the journey begin..... Again :)

Good for you :0) I have gone through all of that, and when I graduate in March, I will have attended Clark for 4 long years. And this is not just taking a class here and there; I worked and took 6-12 credits a quarter getting my pre-req's out of the way (also took summer classed two years straight, so no break from school). Anyway, here I am, two quarters away from graduation :0) Just a word of advice, I was really lucky and got into the program the next quarter after finishing my pre-req's, but the program has gotten so competetive you really have to have good grades to compete for entry. I think last I heared, there were 4 or 5 hundred qualified people applying last year for 96 spots. So, work hard on those pre-req's and it will pay off for you:0).

Good luck,

I am currently enrolled at Lower Columbia College in Longview. I think it is very difficult compared to others (so I've heard) but I've heard doctors say they can pick out the nurses at the hospital who have graduated from LCC by their competence.

LOL, the Docs in Vancouver say the same thing about Clark grads.

Guess it just depends on where you work eh! I may end up relocating to Woodland and working in Vancouver--let's just see what they have to say about LCC then...:)

Let's just agree that they are both great programs!

i just got into 2 of my "b" choice classes for this semester and and #1 on wait list for another. oh well i know that it will be easier for registration next term because i will be an existing student.

smkoepke, unfortunatly registration is very frustrating at Clark. Always have a backup for the classes you WANT to register for, because chances are, they WILL be full :0( I went through that for two years. The sciences are really hard, like A&P, chem and micro to get into because everybody and their mother is going for nursing. Also, the health occupation advisors are not really advocates for the students; they have their own adgenda. So beware of their advice. I would say, get as many of your less competetive classes out of the way (English, phsyc, speech) so you can work your way in senority for your registration date. And hey, if you happen to get into a science class along the way, :0). I know you did not ask for my advice, but I wanted to share my experience and how I would have gone about it if I had to do it over again...

Good luck to you...

Hi, I'm replying to Nadia562002,

I am very interested in going to the Intercollegicate College of Nursing myself. How is it? I'm in the process of taking a statistics course that I have to have in order to enroll in the summer (may 04). I already have an RN from Lower Collumbia College, and I'm planning to get my BSN from WSU. Would like your input about the workload, since I'll have to work full time and go to school part time. Thanks

hi thanks for the advice, i actually ended up gettinge spee 211 hlth 101 and art history so i am getting the lesser courses out of the way first but hope to get started on the sciences next semester or at least chem or a/p if not both. anyways i do agree about taking the advice of the advisors. i haven't met with one yet but my registration appointment was "lost" (which helped to create the closed class problem i had) and i went in today because i checked their website and saw that psych 101 and 211 and speech 211 were open and the lady said no those classes are all full. so i went to the kiosk computer to double check and the psych classes were unaccesible but speech 211 had 4 seats open! so i got back into line and made sure that someone else helped me and i got into the class. Moral of the story.. there are some incompetent people working at clark and i'm going to be double and triple checking everything!

definatly do so :0) btw, who is your instructor for speech? if it happens to be ***** just don't say a word in class (or altleast anything to piss her off). my gosh, you would think a 3 credit class would be and easy "a"? yeah, along with chemistry, i barely pulled a "b-" out of there. lets just say she makes this class worthy of 200-level status :0)

good luck with everything...

I think it would be best to NOT mention instructor names "in the open", this board has a huge membership and is indexed for Google searches.

Thanks :)
