I would agree with Gomer. I am going to a no-name school that acts like it should be a "name" school. Go to the school. Talk to the professors, administration, but most of all STUDENTS.
Nursing school is hard, so make sure that the students are at least somewhat happy... that the instructors are experienced, and you feel like you will be in an environment that will prepare you to succeed.
Also, I live in MD and know a lot of people that went to Hopkins for nursing. They get the same nursing jobs that everyone else gets. In fact, I know quite a few nurses who dislike working with hopkins students because, in one nurses's words, "they think they are god's gift." IMO, it's not worth the expense.
Pick the school that is a good fit for you and an environment that will make you successful.
I'm considering either RN or BSN and not sure which matters more; where you go to school, or the fact that you HAVE the RN or BSN? I am thinking of applying to John's Hopkins, but it would require my family to move. Would it matter if I got my RN from there, or from my local community college? Do people hiring care about that at all? Does it matter more for the BSN, or not at all? Just wanted your opinions...thanks
well what gets you the paycheck - the school name, or the actual certification? If you're debating between RN or BSN, it's always better to have the higher degree... but many start out with a two year ADN program and start working, then go onto a BSN program. If you have the option, go to the best school for you (best schedule, convenience for your family, etc). All that matters is that you have a degree, initially.
