hello, nichol,
i am an legal nurse consultant and took the vickie milazzo course. here is the link for that:
www.legalnurse.com
just call them and get some information and maybe this could be for you, too.
Thanks for the info siri.....this seems very exciting. I love challenges, they keep me going.
You are welcome, nichol,:balloons:
Let me know if you are interested after you talk with them. I can assist you with the course.

I am in the Keiser college on line course. It is 20 weeks and very detailed. It ends for me on Dec. 18th. The cost is $2000.00 ( payable at 400 a month for 5 months.) The Keiser I am enrolled is in Sarasota Florida. Hope that helps.

I'm very glad to have found this post and all of this helpful info. I've been curious about the whole LNC thing since I got a brochure about the Vicki Milazzo course in the mail.
I've got questions: Can people really make 100 to 150/hour with this? Also, do you have to be a certain personality in order to market your services effectively?? I am very shy, soft-spoken, with absolutely no confidence in myself, although I have about 6 years of RN experience, mostly hospital. Also, what are the differences between LNC and nursing informatics and RN coding?

:balloons: hello, frappuccino and welcome to the legal nursing forum:balloons:
to answer your questions:
(1) yes, absolutely. some choose to start at a rate less than $100/hr and nothing wrong with that in the least.
(2) one needs the ability to convey to the attorney-client what the hcp/nurse/ancillary personnel are saying in the medical record and why/how the standards of care apply to the case. one must possess the ability to market and to sell oneself to the client/s. a soft-spoken personality is not a deterrent and can be viewed as a very professional quality, but you would need to be able to exert yourself often.
(3) no, nursing informatics is not the same as the legal nurse consultant. here is a definition of ni:
nursing informatics is a specialty of health care informatics which deals with the support of nursing by information systems in delivery, documentation, administration and evaluation of patient care and prevention of diseases.
if you are intereseted in ni, please check out the nursing informatics forum here https://allnurses.com/forums/f28/
and, the lnc is not the same as the rn coder. please see this link defining that role: http://www.rn-coder.com/
i am certain there are other links outling the ni and the coder that will define in even more detail.
if you are interested in the role of the lnc please view this thread found in this forum:
the role of the legal nurse consultant
if you have other questions, please feel free to post in this thread or start another in the legal nursing forum. you may send me a private message if you wish.
good luck with whatever you choose in the future. :balloons:
