  1. I called them today. The cost is 10,000 dollars for 12 months, Fri 8a-4p. They have orientations on T/Th. They have one class a year. If I find out that they are on the up and upn I will tell others to try. ``
  2. Iam very interested in info regarding this school. Where is located, cost and exactly how long?
  3. Here,here....I was raised that way too. Also we dont eat a lot of fried foods, everyone in family is college educated, we do not all have DM & HTN either. And by the way I have silky wavy hair. So how would you talk to me? Mind you I would be highly offended by some numbnut who may think they are speaking to me according to my ethnicity. Again, just be natural and geniune..everyone is different, deal with people as they come not as you may ASSume they are.
  4. If you would just be geniune and knowledgable when communicating with patients of any race, I think you will be okay. I think we mess up when we assume that we have treat people according to race and not for who they are. :uhoh3:
  5. Did your call light not work? And if you can walk across the room safely..why not walk. After all you want to return to optimum health and normalcy. No patient should writhe in pain, absolutely not!
  6. I empathize with the OP....some patients really go far with the demands. Things like coffee, ice etc..can be obtained by family members or cnas. As well as blankets. I always try to find out everything they need while I am in the room. But a lot of times the things they request are frivolous...taking time away from other more seriously ill patients. I think frequent nursing rounds, med pass, and a good nursing assessment should be sufficent in stable patients for safe care. The rest has nothing to do with nursing care.
  7. As a black person these generalizations would be offense to me in my care...No eye contact a big no no among myself and other blacks. Be cautious in generalizing African-American culture on paper.:) :)
  8. Maybe I am wrong...but I dont thimk this site is appropriate for "casual and uninformed" readers. Those readers would probalby not understand the terminology used here. Point being, I think we are all professionals or at least some what knowledgeable about this topic. By the way, I am glad I found this thread...I am currently 5 months pregnant with twins, with a 14 y/o csection. I had nonknowledge of this condition ( I am Renal/Transplant/ Dialysis nurse) now I have something to research and question my perinatologist about. Sometimes you have to take the good with the bad...meaning the threads. But, I do appreciate all views.:) :)
