Does anyone feel burnt out who has only been a nurse for 3 years.
Hello all, Thank you for the help! I have gone on several mini-vacations throughout the year, butI don't know if that counts. I usually take the vacations and the last few days of vacation are spent worrying about the dreeded work that I must go back to. Managements ideas of customer service, I think, has really added alot of stressors to us as nurses. I agree that it has turned from emphasis on patient's health and well-being emotionally and physically, to "customer service" a kind of motiff you would expect to see in general orientation at "starbucks" or "kohls". I am sorry to say this, but the kind of care that rns provide doesn't come with a money back gartentee where you just bring your reciept back and you get your money back. We are dealing with people both patient's and staff members as a unit, not produce or merchandise. As human's we need to respect each other, management, staff rns, and patient's, to make a difference in the care of patient's, if you want to stay at the Hilton or buy a cup of coffee - go there, not to the hospital for "customer service". Is there anything I can do about my dilemma.

Does anyone feel burnt out who has only been a nurse for 3 years.
Just wondering if you are feeling at a loss when it comes to nursing politics, nursing guidelines, and the do's/don'ts of nursing? I know I love to take care of patients and provide for their best interests. I have been a nurse for 3 years and feel like around every corner management is out to get you, the patient's get more and more resentful or ungrateful. The patient's would rather try to be mean or hit you in the face than be greatful. What does this mean? Why do I feel this way. I work in telemetry adult.

How can I transfer to Peds from Telemetry Specialty?
Hello! I am a traveling Telemetry nurse and I am interested in possibly settling down in the AZ area and transferring/enhancing my nursing knowledge by adding peds to my belt. Is there an easy way to do this? What things do I need to know? Let me know.

'Unhealthy' nurses...bad examples?
We as nurses, have to think logically about this. We are the health care professionals, but we are also human. When I think of the "ideal" or "perfect" nurse, I don't think about what hair-do, what fashion of scrubs, or what his/her body looks like. Any nurse is also a human. We all have our vices and that doesn't make us bad or good roles models, it just makes us human. We can always strive to be the best we can, but we are not arian.

where should I go next? Need advice!
Hello, I am a traveling rn who has already had some experience traveling. I have been to new mexico, cali, arizona and wisconsin. I definitely want to go to the east coast sometime. My dilemma is that I have always traveled with my fiance and now I am traveling alone. We broke up about 3 months ago. Going long distances with my travel nurse career was never a problem until now. I had a travel buddy with me at all times. Now I am trying to decide where to go from here in glendale, az for my next assignment. I don't want to go to far because I am traveling alone. Should I feel this way? Has anyone out there traveled a far distance by themselves? How does it work for you? I did recently get a dog and he is good company, but just isn't the same. Please give me some advice. Also, i have cousins in the tuscon, az area and was considering possibly just going to tuscon for an assignment until i get used to being on my own so i have somebody who i know in the area. anybody know anything about tuscon? Later and luck, :caduceus: my tattoo.

9 months exp.?
you are not jumping the gun! It is a very unique field that you are in, nursing! You are in high demand in all states! Feel special! I started traveling when I was only 9 months of age in nursing (a telemetry nurse!). I figured if i didn't have enough experience and still have questions, (which i did and still do), there would be nurses nice enough to help me all over the united states. Sure enough, there was tremendous support out there no matter where I went. I have been in all over as you can see and nothing is more exciting than travel nursing. Not everyone can travel, especially those with kids and houses and have prior commitments to there home states. If you are single, able to travel, and feel up to having the time of your life, then traveling would be great for you at any "nursing age".

Tattoo's on Nurses
i don't think you have anything to worry about. as long as the tattoo is not offensive in anyway, you should be fine. I have tattoos as well and also have run into many nurses who have them and nothing has been said or done against them.

Will I remember CPR when I need to?
well, i have only actually performed cpr a few times, but you do get this adrenaline rush thing that makes you want to act extremely quickly in a case of an emergency. So, the adrenaline, along with your training which will need to be renewed every two years, makes you act fast. usually people don't need to sit and think too long. Members of a code team or doctors and other nurses are always there within seconds to help you "remember" or think on your toes if need be. So no worries, just do what nurses do best and keep the patient as the number one priority and you will do fine!

AZ and glendale is pretty sweet.
don't worry about what I said, I am a traveler, so it takes me a while to set up a network of friends and such. When I wrote that message, i had just moved, but I have meet quite a few people at work that are nice and I am nice, so that kinda works out. If you move here, I would be more than happy to hang out with you. I travel with my fiance and am happy with the area I am in. I haven't gotten down to pheonix yet, but glendale area is packed with stuff to do, many malls, restaurants, some taverns and a view of some mountains. I am only 2 hours from flagstaff, az, which is the home of the grand canyon, very beautiful. and 2 hours from tucson. I like to hike and listen to jazz music in clubs, so that is what i try to find here. There are many apartments in the area that look very nice.

Hello, Moved to the area last week and working at tbird on the telemetry unit. Everything seems cool with the hospital, I just finished orientation on friday and on monday I will be out on the floor. Exciting. Just haven't meet any cool people to hang with yet. Glendale seems very open and laid back, so should be ok.
