I have the potential opportunity to move from a med/surg floor to either the cardiac/telemetry floor or the ER at my hospital. The cardiac/telemetry nurses spill over into the ICU on occasion. Our ER is not a trauma ER but can have a variety of acute care cases. Any advice?
I don't have any ER experience so I can't really comment on that, but cardiac/tele will provide invaluable experience that will benefit you in any area you work in. Cardiac emergencies can occur in any setting.
Can ER positions ultimately lead to ICU positions? Or are the two departments trained completely seperately? I apologize if this question is ignorant, I'm interested in doing both some day, but don't want to pidgeonhole myself.
