Specializes in Case mgmt., rehab, (CRRN), LTC & psych.

You will not be able to work abroad with a practical nursing education in your home country. For that, you will need to be an RN at the baccalaureate level (RN-BSN).

Specializes in ORTHOPAEDICS-CERTIFIED SINCE 89.

Moved to International Nursing/Philappines

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

As far as I am aware for working abroad you need to be RN trained so LPN will not help despite what is currently being said. I would suggest having a good read on both this and the International forum.

Be aware that will be hard to get a job in the EU due to current requirements and I can't see it changing soon

:welcome:

From the Philippines, nothing less than the BSN will get you a visa to work in another country. No matter what some politicians are saying there. Immigration is completely separate from licensure, and they do not accept the practical nurse training.

Funnier even yet, is that your own country does not even recognize it for licensure or for working there, but they think that others will have no issue with it.

The course is going to take you minimum of two years and with the fact that they are probably adding in another year, you are looking at three years, plus the time that it takes to get thru immigration. And the fact that there are now over 632,000 enrolled in nursing programs there, that also expect to go abroad. You may with to rethink what you want to do, or be prepared for quite a wait. It is only going to get harder, not easier.

Hi thanks to all of you. For giving me some advices.

Specializes in Critical Care.

Hi... I understand you want to go abroad.. But then there are other courses that can take you there. If you'll take nursing just to go abroad, please think about it a hundred times. If you don't have the heart for nursing, you might end up not liking it. Nursing is a calling and not jus a one way ticket abroad.... I know some people who are already on 3 months away from graduating nursing but quit. And some graduated nursing but never practice it. Please don't take nursing for granted. Think about it....
