Hi

I would like to work in Houston, Texas. Should I apply to the Texas BNE or are there advantages to applying to NYBON?

For TXBNE, the CES can be done thru CGFNS, ERES or IERF. From reading these posts, it appears as though CGFNS is slow and it can be difficult getting hold of them. Has anyone done a CES thru ERES or IERF?

ERES website says their evaluation can be done in 10-15 days, once all documents are received, and they also have a 2-day rush service for a fee.

Please advise.

Thanks

not sure about the eres and ierf thing..but read in otehr thred that they are not accepted. you can call the bon or just visit their website about the authentic ces requirement answer. if they have specifically written that ces must be done by cgfns then it is o,,if they just write--ces from approved body..see if that eres is approved or not.

the advantage of going through ny is you would not have to worry about submitting the documents for visa screen(i am not sure if u require visa screen or not). cgfns itself collects all the documents for your cvs and the same document can be used...the length of time depends upon many factors..the delay could be on the part of the nursing schools or registration authority. cgfns claims that it forwards the documents to nysed aftr 6 months(whether complete or incomplete),,,,if in anytime in the future you wish to work in ny state..you have to go through the ny cvs(unless the rule changes)..so it is wise to be licensed in ny initially then endorse to texas. ny isuues license without ssn but i don't know about texas.

Texas will not issue the license without the SSN# submitted to them.

Fortunately I have a SSN#, as I lived in the US, for a few years, about 5 years ago.

I have a follow up question, someone I know will be taking the NCLEX for CA license. As have said in posts, CA BON will not issue a license without SSN#. What if she passed the exam but doesn't have a SSN#, what will be the next advisable move?

there are two options-

#1) she can look for an employer in ca and her petition will be filed by the employer (the visa processing) get an immigrant visa (come to the usa) then get a social security number and license, start working.

#2) if not interested to work in ca, find an employer(to file petition) in the state of choice, do the same process as mentioned before, but she also needs to apply for endorsement of her ca license to the state where she wants to work. the state may have additional requirements for licensing, for eg-ces, cvs ...

things to remember-

her visa petition can be filed in any states on the basis of her ca nclex-rn passing results(even if she does not have a license in that state of intended employment) but she will not be allowed to work as an rn until she is licensed in that state. therefore, she can apply for (ces/cvs if it is a requirement) while the immigrant visa is under process.

Visa processing only requires passing of the CGFNS exam or the NCLEX exam, it doesn't actually require a license.
