I personally think that NCLEX-RN is an exam that you should put individual input into.
I did not join the Kaplan online course, or the video nor did i had any sessions with them, i just used the book, cds, qbank and question trainer. The rest of the effort should be made by you.
Though I don't discourage you from joining any review courses, i would advise you to ask yourself if you work better on a classroom setting or alone? Because some students find it distracting to go to class, some work better, and can grasp more if they work by themselves.
If you do decide to join a class for your review, you should continue studying by yourself when you get home. After all, yes the instructor was good, you understood stuff, you can answer his questions, but if you can't get good scores on practice tests, the result might not be good.
Bottomline: Know your nursing stuff well, and answer as MANY questions as you can. You need to answer them to develop test taking strategies to pass the exam. And of course, PRAY, PRAY and PRAY. After all, your efforts will not pay off without HIM.
Good Luck! :)
I took the Kaplan classroom course and it was good but looking back I would rather have taken it online since you can go through the questions at your own pace. In the classroom there wasn't much time to think about the answer choices where as you can pause the video at home and think about it all you'd like.
You have to make that decision based on what you think will work best for you. Have read negative input about classroom versions, where the person providing the course could not answer questions. I would stick with the online version if it were me. I don't need sessions with someone who knows no more than I do.
