Where were u 9/11/01?

They only reason I'm starting this thread is b/c where I was on this date will forever be memoriable to my nursing career. Just 1 or 2 phrases to tell where u were at the time of the attacks....

I was in Fall semester Nursing School, senior year....1st days on the floor of our Psyc Rotation....all the TVs on the unit were on. It was a very interesting place to be during such a time.

I've glued to this thread now and coming back often to read the new replies, much like I was glued to the TV to watch events unfold on 9/11/01. It gives me chills, goosebumps, and brings tears to my eyes to read everyone's stories. Wow...

I had taken my son to school, then me and my daughter went to a friends house for a brief visit. She doesn't keep a tv on, she only had one for the kids she baby sat at times to watch videos. My daughter and I went home. I turned on the tv and since I lived out in the boonies my satelite stations were out of New York and California instead of arkansas. Well I saw the smoke coming out of tower and thought "oh a building is on fire in New York." The sound was turned down at that time, so I changed it to one of the California stations and there was the same building so I turned the volume up and it was talking about a plane had crashed into the building. I called my mother at work and told her that a plane had crashed into one of the world trade center towers, she said that they had been listening to the radio about it. We were discussing weather or not it was an accident, that is when I saw the second plane crash into the tower, and just started crying that another one had hit, then we knew it was not an accident. We continued to talk when the tower fell I cried out "It fell momma, it fell." I could here her crying and some of her coworkers. Then when the second one fell i stated "Oh no it fell." My mom said "You already told us it fell." I then told her "No the second tower has fallen." It just seemed so unbelievable. My mother then stated "you know we are now at war." I stayed glued to the tv all day and hugged my son when he came home from school. I was scared all day that the terrorist would crash a plane in the Pine Bluff Aresenal sending a nuclear reaction because our news stations were talking about them going on high alert. It is one day that I will never forget.

I was nursing my 1 month old son watching the TV and then a special report came. I could not beleive that it was happening. I was devasteted.I was looking at my son and wondering in what world I brought him into. Still to this day, I watched a documentry 9/11 last night on TV and I was crying and still can't believe that somebody could do such a terrible act. So many lives destroyed. There was some extraordinary stories of survival also that was unbeleivable.

I was in eighth grade (long time ago, yikes)... about to be late to homeroom because I'd stopped by the library to check out a book. The teacher had a habit of making us watch the Today! show or films like The Adventures of Milo and Otis. She was crying at her desk, and I saw the TV screen just as Tower One collapsed.

The principal decided not to cancel classes for the day.... every teacher had the television playing at low volume. I was in the school band at the time, and I remember playing through a song, hearing that fighter planes had been scrambled to escort the Atty General's plane down, and thinking "Sooner or later this will be two days ago." I don't know why, but it seemed important that the day would end, and be two days in the past.

I was at a clinical site (adult surgical heart unit). We couldn't leave the hospital it was on high alert. Boy what a long and terrible day. I will never forget it. I was with a nurse assessing a patient and the tv in the room was on all three of us were silent as we watched the plane hit the Twin Towers.

I was in high school my freshmen year and i was on my way to my next class when they put the scholl on lock down and no one was allowed on floors 2 through 4.

On the Staten Island Ferry, 8:45 am boat, on my way to work. I watched the second plane strike.

It was 8 days before my 21st birthday. Beginning my third year at Ohio State. I was sleeping and it was really sunny that day in columbus, Ohio. My roommate woke me up just in time for me to see t he second plane strike. I had class later that day.

At work in my previous career in R&D. Not much work got accomplished that day.

I was at the top of one of them 8 months earlier and rode past ground zero on my bicyle the next May...quite an eery feeling.

I was changing my baby's diapers. At first I thought it was a movie, then I looked up to see Peter Jennings and the second plane crash, I realized it was real.

I recently saw United flight 93. Great movie. Let's not forget that the loss of life could have been even worse if not for the heroic efforts of the passanges on that plane. "A strong man cares for himself, a stronger man cares for the well being of others." My heart goes all to all those who lost family and loved ones on that day.

i saw the second plane hit, then both towers crumbled

dh was in ireland at the time but made it home on the saturday following

not nice to be away from your loved one when the world is in crisis

i watched the tv all day and night

I was the charge nurse in SICU. When the planes hit, every television was on. Some of the surgeons were in OR and didn't find out till hours later. Luckily it was a quiet day on the unit
