Originally posted by RN2BTamI am in Houston also (actually Deer Park, a suburb). I am finishing my pre-req's at San Jac South this summer. And then I will begin San Jac Central ADN Program on Aug 25th, 2003!!!
Vettech - are you at San Jac or Alvin?
Rae0979 - where are you going for the ADN program?
I just did my pre-reqs at SJC-South and am starting the ADN program over at central, wow, 4 weeks from today. So, I guess we'll be in class together.
I've got Fowler for Foundations and Washington for Assessment 1st 8, Fowler again for Skills and I'm taking the Tu/Th clinical (Shipferling).
So, lovely orientation wasn't it? I loved the fact that they wouldn't cancel DURRING the hurricaine but cut us loose AFTER it had already gone by. One in my group joked that it was just a loyalty test.
Nice to see a fellow SJC student on here. You're the first I've bumped into in a year.
Hey to all of my fellow Texas nurses (or "to-be's"). :) I am in East Texas in the Longview/Marshall area and wanted to say hello. I have already been through my two year sentence in an ADN program and NOW IM A NURSE!!! :) If any of you need any support or encouragement - please just drop me a line and I'll help ya out in whatever way I can. BEST OF LUCK!!!! You can do it! -DaisyRN
As far as financial aid goes, the state will only pay for 150% of an assosiates degree. That is for all attempted credits regardless if they were completed and also regardless if you were on aid when you recieved them. The state hasd to pay for alot of us...me being one of them. IT is only fair otherwise, there would be less people on aid and more people just constanly going to school to furthur their education at the cost of the state. So at about 96 credits is when we are cut off. I recommend you checking out the NSNA website as they have some great nursing scholarship oppurtunities on there. Good Luck. BTW, Im in the houston/galveston area going to ACC.

sorry it took me so long to reply - I have been sick for two weeks (and counting)...
I am also starting at San Jac - I have Kirkpatrick for Foundations, and haven't been able to register for the rest yet because I need to turn in my physical form still - doing that this week. It's so cool to find some of my classmates on here!

HEllo fellow nursing students,
My mane is Shirley and I'm entering UTMB (UNIVeristy of TExas Medical Branch) BSN in Aug. I'm soooooo excited I see that not many are from the southeast. UTMB is located in Galveston. I've lived in this area all my life but will move to Tennessee after graduation. To vette, I took microbiology at Alvin and talked with some of the nursing students there and they said it was a good program. I personally enjoyed the school, slow paced in a way like people aren't worried about fashion or looking pretty all the time, more focused on academics which I personally liked. It just seemed old fashion in a good way. Alvin is in the country...
