I've googled, picked up the Employment Guide papers, checked all the employment sites like Monster and Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Can't find one! I'm looking for something on the SW side of FW. Does anybody know of any?

eEven if I had to pay for one. I heard of one at Dunbar HS but that's kind of far to travel. I've even looked on Red Cross' website and couldn't find anything about it either, as someone suggested. I'm flustered.

I can't speak on your community, but most nursing homes offer CNA training, have you contacted your states licensing bureau about where CNA's can get certified in your state? in michigan its

Maybe yours is the same, click on the employment link or whatever career options are available. Your best bet is to call the nursing homes, ask to talk to the Nurse manager or go in person.

Good Luck, Jackie

Seek and ye shall find...

The following link provides a WEALTH of information about CNA certification in TX, including who offers the training, how one can be exempt from the training and only take the test, etc.

I found this link thru this site, which applies to all states: http://www.cna-network.org/pages/Training_.htm

Thanks, Jrsimon for your help.

Hope this helps someone. :)

I've never heard of free CNA training here in DFW. In MI, nursing homes may train you for free, but I don't think that they do that here in TX. I went through a program a few years ago and it was about $500 for about a 6 week course. I just checked on TCC's website and they are starting a class on 9/11-11/10 1:30-5:30 MWF South campus. Good Luck!

Well, they're free in the fact that you don't dish out money. However, most places, if not all, require you to work for them for a certain amount of time.

I went to CNA class in 1992 at a nursing home in Burelson Tx and they paid me to go....min wage for the entire time i was in class... my how things have changed. :lol2:

Specializes in ICU, ER, HH, NICU, now FNP.

Yes the nursing home I worked at in the 80's did the training right there. And in fact - my oldest daughter did CNA training 6 years ago in Dallas, and they paid her to while she went through training as well.

Just start calling - that's going to be your best bet. Not many of them advertise I'm sure.
