I'm an LVN who took IV therapy in school, does that not make me IV certified?

I am confused if I need verification from NURSYS - Texas (where I have my current license) is listed, but then it says complete it ONLY if the state I am seeking licensure in requires verification. Does Washington require verification?

As a new grad LVN I have earned from $18.25-20.25/hr in LTC. Also look down at previous posts, there are many on this forum regarding LVN pay rates to give you a better idea.

I have checked the WA Dept. of Health website and it appears that you just have fill out an application to have your current license endorsed by WA and also pay some fees to do that. You take the NET to get into Concorde's LVN program. You can ask to purchase a study guide or find it online.

I work with an RN going through the program. It is LTC, which she said is about the only place that would employ her. She just doesn't have a key for her narcotics and the other nurses have to pull and sign her narcs for her.

As a new grad in DFW I make $18.25, which is about average for here I think. Another place I work was paying me $19.25 for evening shift and $20.25 for nights. Add in over time which I always have and it's about $40,000 gross, not too bad...

I've never heard of free CNA training here in DFW. In MI, nursing homes may train you for free, but I don't think that they do that here in TX. I went through a program a few years ago and it was about $500 for about a 6 week course. I just checked on TCC's website and they are starting a class on 9/11-11/10 1:30-5:30 MWF South campus. Tuiton was $18,400, that includes all your books and scrubs. yes, very steep, more like 4 times as much as a community college. You can get government financial aid though. Fortunately I had a great deal of help from my parents, otherwise I might not have considered it for that much. They do sell study guides for the NET, you just have to ask them. I didn't think it was very difficult, but then again that is subjective. I know there were a few students going through TWC that got their tuiiton paid, but I don't really know any details. i just graduated this month and i am starting at $18/hr and $19/hr for 2-10 shift in ltc. i'm just doing prn right now until i get another ft job else where. from what i hear, the large hospitals in dfw do not pay very well for lvn's in comparison to ltc. that is, if you can get a job there, they mostly want rn's. for example, jps starts lvn's at $12.98/hr. no thanks. another option is a rehab or ltac hospital which hire more lvn's and pay more than traditional hospitals and probably have better benefits than most nursing homes.

According to the TX BNE only about 3 VN programs in TX are accredited, so some community colleges programs are not accredited either. The main thing is that it is in good standing as an approved program with the BNE so you can sit for boards.

I just graduated from the VN program this month. I would recommend Concorde if you are looking to get into nursing and start making money very quickly, because it is VERY quick, no prereqs are required. If you have more time to take then I would say go for your RN at a community college or a community college VN program (because it's much less expensive). I still think I received a good education though, just a little too pricey in my opinion. It is approved by the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners, it is not accredited (apparently only a few number of VN schools are actually accredited still). I am scheduled to take my NCLEX in May and I feel pretty confident about passing. Just ask if you have any other questions I can anwser for you. Does anyone know where a non medical or licensed person can get training for this? I've searched the web and can't find anything. I remember not to long ago seeing that Carter Bloodcare does training, is that true? Thanks.

I can't speak for Houston, but in the DFW area, all the senior BSN students I know already have jobs lined for when they graduate.
