I'm considering making the leap to agency nursing after 3 years on a Med-Surg floor. I know it's a goofy question, but where do you keep your car keys while you're working at a facility? Going into new facilities all of the time, I'm sure you don't get lockers or even a mail box....Where do you store car keys and other small personal items?
Thanking you in advance and apologizing for being so ignorant.....

My car keys always stay in my pocket or a waist purse (butt pack), if I'm using one.

I actually bought a clear backpack for book, keys etc, penlight and other miscellaneous things..........of course i just signed on with agency for cleveland clinic in weston fl, went to orientation (tuesday 4hrs) for the computerized mars and got call today that i wasn't needed (at 6am) didn't know i was scheduled only do nights.........then today called me to work tonight 7-7a, got a call at 5p census is down can they call me at 9p for 11-7, which is probably better because i am nervous being my first agency night..........so i hope they call at 9p and now to take off my uniform and make dinner....:)

Arizona,
I know your question is about keys, but I have to say, do not quit your med/surg job in this economy. Why don't you try agency before.
Once you know your schedule for the month I would think you could let the agency know when you are available.

I agree with muffin!! Don't quit your job right now!! I love working agency, but I am kicking myself for not signing on fulltime somewhere when things started to go downhill. Hang in there a little while longer...this economy has to turn around eventually

I always wear cargo pants and never carry anything into work. Keys in right front pocket. Drivers license and money in back pocket. Other pockets for pens, scissors, hemostats, calipers, etc. The only thing I will carry is a bottle of water.
finally got to work agency, i agree don't quit full time job, but the agency experience is great.........also made me appreciate my hospital even more
i ended up putting my backpack on top of the fridge, i agree with bring in nothing..now that i never used anything in my packpack that night good luck
