Looking for my daughter. She will live anywhere but would like a college experience with sports and living on campus. 3.8 GPA hasn't taken ACT but I would guess 24-26 range.
Thinking she gets ASN or ADN- RN anywhere then transfers to a decent school for BSN.
And does each program have different pre-reqs?
Thoughts? Advice?
Why are you taking college entrance ("we") exams and doing research? This needs to be her job and her decision. You are setting her up to fail if you are doing all the work. She needs to decide what SHE wants to do. She needs to do the research with guidance. Anyone I know who let their parent do all the college prep work dropped out the first or second semester.Based on the thread title...who is going away to nursing school you or your daughter?
Agree with the daughter doing everything herself for the sake of her future! I know someone who is going to be ~100K in debt after college with nothing to show for it but a psych degree because their mom did everything for them, even applying to the college they are attending.
Thank you for the parenting advice.
I am helping her with the process because it is extremely time consuming finding colleges that match your major, gpa, test scores, etc. She is busy with school, work, basketball, and college classes at night. And I love her very much so I offered to help her with this.
I would appreciate if someone would suggest a program that will accept a student with her stats so we can discuss it as a family. Thank you for any suggestions you can provide.

Meant to hit the quote button, not the thank button[emoji16]
Is your daughter even interested in becoming a nurse? I ask because I would think she would want to look into schools herself, busy or not. It's nice that you are helping her but at some point, she is going to need to make the decision about school for herself.
Ok any suggestions where she could get in? I talk to schools in New Mexico Kentucky Texas utah and Florida and they are all looking for higher test scores. She's pretty well-rounded. Speaks Spanish host exchange students is a big sister and works at a kids club. From the stats I've seen I don't know where she can get in.
Since you are looking in the South -- check out Delta State University in Cleveland, MS.. BSN program where most students do not have 4.0, require a 21 on ACT, and HESI entrance exam. Best of all they do NOT have any out of state fees.
Best of luck.
It's all she has wanted to do since 8th grade when I was diagnosed with cancer. She wants to be a pediatric oncology nurse. We spent a lot of time at Dana Farber Cancer Institute and she was hooked.
Thanks for the college suggestions. I will call advisors after Thanksgiving to see how competitive they are. Are they all direct admit? The other schools I called said these were minimums but their actual dmit numbers were much higher. I will keep calling..... thx

From what I read, they're all direct admit. They do prefer higher GPAs but your daughter's GPA is pretty competitive. If I were her I would apply for as many as I can, early decision, since she doesn't have a particular school she's interested in.
She is open buts likes a good athletic program and preferably a city of any size. We live in the woods and she had a great spirit and wants to see the world.
She liked uky but that is 2+2. If she doesn't g why accepted she has to pick up and move. Her brother goes to Temple and she loves it there. Anywhere with a decent program and extras.

I think Temple is direct admit?
