Hi, I was just wondering where I can find Mantoux/PPD in Minnesota. What is it and please give me the closest sites in twin cities. St. Paul would be okay. Is there a site where I can look this up? because I tried googling it, but could not find any.
I am very nervous because the CNA course I want to take is this coming January. I do not know if I will have $589 by then, but do pray :)
Thank you in advance. -Choua

Mantoux/PPD is a skin test to see if you have been exposed to Tuberculosis (sp?). You can usually get it at any health care facility such as a clinic, health dept or doctors office.
Thanks so much! :]] What happens if I am exposed? Not saying I am/have, just curious :]] -Choua

Maybe I'm out of line in saying this, but you haven't been exposed. TB is a very rare (although highly contagious) disease.
If you're test comes back positive, though, or if you've been exposed to it, another test will be ordered (which is no big deal) and then I believe a chest x-ray.
I've gone to my Drs office to have them taken, when I worked as a CNA the staff did them onsite and now that I'm in school with no health insurance, we have a "medical center" in Madison that will do them for $10.
Get used to taking TB tests...once I was hired as a CNA I had to have them done yearly, then once I got into nursing school I had to have two taken before classes start once a year.

If you are taking the course at Century, like I believe you were planning to do just go to health services on East campus and I think they charge like $6 for the test.
Wow, that is cheap. Is it expensive at a clinic/hospital? hehe. Thank you so much Casi. What would I do without you? hehe. -Choua
