  1. Aww, thanks guys. I will keep these advices and apply them at work. hehe. -Choua
  2. Two situations. Situation #1: I was taking my clinicals for becoming a CNA three weeks ago. One of the CNA was mentoring me and was also working with a new CNA in the facility. The girl who just started the job was helping my mentor with the hoyer (I think that is how you spell it) and asked, "does this side go up or is it the bottom?" My mentor said that the hoyer was on the opposite ends. A couple of hours later when we were assisting the residents to their rooms after dinner, my mentor told the nurse who was in charge of my class and I. I felt kind of bad that my mentor told on the other girl. She only asked if it was right or not, she did not do anything wrong..like lifting the resident already. I mean, come on! SHE ASKED! SHE DID NOT DO IT ALREADY!!! SHE ONLY ASKED IF SHE WAS DOING IT CORRECTLY!!! I felt that I should had said something, but my instructor told me in class before going to the clinicals, "CNAs don't like you to correct them, especially if you're only a CNA student." :zzzzz They made a big deal out of this. I was so...irritated. I do not know what happened afterwards, but I sure did not like what they did. I hope she did not lose her job Is this wrong? Or am I just thinking too much? I thought I should ask this in case I ran into a situation like this later when I am in a facility myself. Whether I am the one to ask or be the one to answer. Situation #2: I was on my second day of clinicals and had to bring one of the residents to either her room or the round table, where everyone is sitting and watching t.v. I asked her, because she has a choice, where she wanted to go, to her room or the round table. She looked at me and said, "What good does this do?" .....................................:zzzzz I was stunned and did not know what to say or do. I rolled her wheelchair to the round table and left. I kept thinking about what she said. Even after I am done with my clinicals, I am still bothered by this. I mean, I am a CNA now. I have to deal with these questions everyday and I do not know what to say to them when they ask me. Any suggestion on what I should have said? done? Thank you :) -Choua
  3. Thank you very much for replying to me :) I think I will look into the woodbury one. hehe. I want to work in a nursing home and then move onto a hospital when I feel that I am experienced enough ^__^ Thanks again! -Choua
  4. I got my CNA about two weeks ago and still have not find a job yet. I would like to know everyone's opinion with Nursing Homes. Which do you recommend me to apply?? I heard Lakeview or somewhere in Stillwater has a good nursing home, anyone know anything about this? -Choua
  5. are you a CNA as well, or an RN? i tried applying for volunteer work at Regions in December of 06, and someone called to tell me they will send me an application, but i never received the papers. oh well. maybe next time. hehe. -Choua
  6. Just to update you folks, I did not work third shift while taking my CNA. I did pass my state exam I am now trying to find a place to work. I was thinking about Cerenity. Is there any other places that you guys would recommend me? A facility that is. I need to get reimbursment cause I borrowed $589 from my parents and need to pay them back Thanks so much! xoxo Choua
  7. What is this place called that pays you for training? -Choua
  8. I asked this once, and everyone told me MN does not offer free training..that they know of. They did tell me that a nursing home or hospital will pay for you if you work for them under a contract. If you are not working for any of those two, take the program and when you are hired at one of those places, show them the receipt :) they will reimburst you. I am taking my CNA program this semester. I am not working right now, so I will most likely have to save my receipts so I can get reimburstment when I get hired at a nursing home or at the hospital :) THIS IS SOOO EXCITING!!! ^__^ Good luck :) -Choua
  9. Spring semester is starting this month on the 16. I am also enrolled in the CNA program at Century College, but I was wondering what some of the experienced professions think or their opinions on my upcoming school/work schedule. I will be a full-time student taking CNA program during the night, 2 p.m. - 9 p.m. I will most likely work third shift afterwards at a nursing home for four to five hours (10 p.m. - 3 a.m.) and probably volunteer at a hospital in the morning, around 6 a.m. - 8 a.m.? Does anyone think this will be too much for me? Of course, this will only last a month. After I pass my CNA program, hopefully, I will not work third shift anymore. I believe I could last a month, but I would most likely miss out on family gatherings, study/homework, and "me" time. I do not know what to do. Give me your honest opinions and advice :) If you are wondering why I am doing so much at once, that is because I have not had any experience - which is why I want to volunteer at a hospital, Regions. I also need to work to earn extra cash for my tuition, books, and bills. -Choua
  10. Wow, that is cheap. Is it expensive at a clinic/hospital? hehe. Thank you so much Casi. What would I do without you? hehe. -Choua
  11. Thanks so much! :]] What happens if I am exposed? Not saying I am/have, just curious :]] -Choua
  12. Hi, I was just wondering where I can find Mantoux/PPD in Minnesota. What is it and please give me the closest sites in twin cities. St. Paul would be okay. Is there a site where I can look this up? because I tried googling it, but could not find any. I am very nervous because the CNA course I want to take is this coming January. I do not know if I will have $589 by then, but do pray :) Thank you in advance. -Choua
  13. what's the difference between ADN & CNA? what does a adn do? also, does a nursing assistant and home health aide have different duties and which one is ranked higher in education? and i'm confused with the NA/HHA exam vs. the NNAAP exam. what's the difference and is it for two totally different (whats the word?) job? on another note, what's a passing score on the exam? i've never tooken a cna training program but took a sample test online..some of them were common sense..does that go the same for the real exam? i got 40/60 :S i believe that if i take the training course, i'd get at least 50+ :) -Choua
  14. Thank you, thank you! I still don't know how to use this site. lol. I guess I need to explore the forums a little more. hehe. Thanks again. -Choua
  15. That's just sad. Maybe I should move somewhere else where they're experiencing nursing shortage. -Choua
